Touchdown! ✈️
GE Aerospace’s 747 Flying Test Bed left the Mojave, rolled into CVG, and turned a 100,000-square-foot hangar into the coolest spot around.
From low passes over Evendale to up-close tours for 1,500 employees, this “flying lab” is where tomorrow’s engines earn their wings. This aircraft is where bold ideas meets real-world data.

Footage from June 1969 of a Russian Beriev B-12 Chayka amphibious flying boat making several low passes near the U.S. destroyer USS Norris with bomb bay door open, showing it has no weapons.👀
@3wire42 Fair point Lockheed U-2 has gone through quite a few iterations over the decades. It’s easy to mistake one variant for another from a quick look. The evolution of that airframe is actually pretty fascinating.
@GinieSigonney I’m surprised you don’t recognize the variant of an airplane that’s been around for 70 years. That’s just a later model of Lockheed’s U-2. I honestly don’t know how many variants they have made from the original U-2.
@MPCM1776 Exactly such a unique setup. The way the pogos drop away on takeoff and the aircraft transitions cleanly is really something. Do you know how they handle recovery afterward?
@drmejia09 That must be one of those routes that never gets old the Andes, the lakes, then the Caribbean… completely different worlds in one trip. Which part do you enjoy the most?
I spent years and thousands of hours flying this aircraft. The C-141. It took me to 70 countries and all sorts of flying environments. My favorite jet to fly in 35 years of experience. I’ve even slept here a few times off the beaten path where there were no other options. The memories! I could fire it up right now. ❤️
