Didier Deschamps responds to Lamine Yamal after comments suggesting Spain are better than France.
🗣️ “Lamine is an exceptional talent, but he still has a lot to learn. In football, you don’t prove you’re better with microphones you prove it on the pitch. Respect is earned over years, not with a few comments after a good run.”
“If he believes Spain are better than France, then fantastic. We’ll settle that where it matters. France don’t need to tell the world how good we are—we let our football do the talking.”
“I never tell my players to disrespect opponents because the game has a way of humbling you very quickly. The moment you start believing you’ve already won, football reminds you that nothing is guaranteed.”
“France have been competing at the highest level for years because we stay humble, work hard and respect every opponent. That’s why we’ve consistently been among the best national teams in the world.”
“Young players should enjoy themselves, but they should also understand that words create pressure. If you publicly claim you’re better than France, then be prepared to back it up when the whistle blows.”
“We’ll remember those comments. Now it’s up to Spain to prove them. We don’t fear anyone, and we certainly don’t need lessons about greatness. We’ll answer in the only way that matters on the football pitch.”

@KayrieTrix It's pettiness. Not really about the way they dress. Dapper and stylish is splendid. Just sick of cameras and commentators pandering to these self promoting wallabies. I'll get over myself once the World Cup's over and David Beckham is no longer on my screen promoting watches.

@RaminNasibov I do, needing power on an F1 car and there is a software glitch.
English

@danwootton Desperate to be relevant. Leave the experts to do their job. They are way better than you can ever hope to be.
Stay out of it, they don’t need your help.
English

@__Pichon__ This guy thinks he was on par with Bellingham? I hope not!
English

@matthewdmarsden @Grandroyal50 @Yum785 You may hold that view, bless you. But that’s not the major view. My mixed race kids are told categorically- they black. As Meghan Markle is also describe here - mixed, half caste, black. You may find it difficult to Scott your kids are black be we here accept it. We love them
English

@Grandroyal50 @Yum785 If someone’s father is white and mother is black, they are not black. Fuck off.
English

Utter bunkum.
I love Ian Wright but this perpetual victimhood mentality is just boring now.
I have only seen people praise Bellingham this tournament.
Oh, and he isn’t black. He is mixed raced, not that that means anything.
Stop bringing race into everything.
Uncle Chu@datchuguyy
“I don’t think the English media are ready for a black superstar who can move like Jude is moving. Someone like Jude Bellingham frightens them because they just can’t touch him” Ian Wright
English

@matthewdmarsden @Yum785 You have no idea what you are talking about or very out of touch.
English

@Yum785 Oh, fuck off. He is clearly mixed race and let me tell you that coming from the UK no one calls mixed race people “black.” That is an American thing that I have never understood. Don’t be telling me what I think.
English

@matthewdmarsden Racism is a lived experience and if you haven’t lived it then you don’t have the freedom of speech to comment. In this country mixed race kids like mine are categorised/treated as black and this enjoy the lived experience that their unmixed cousins never experience. Stay out

@Tarzanjr554 @markklfc Jude was not disrespectful. The reporter did not represent to Jude exactly what the manager said. He presented a one-sided view that the manager never intended. Just answered the question asked. The problem is the deceptive reporter!

Thomas Tuchel hits back at Jude Bellingham after his public response following England’s win over Norway.
🗣️ “Jude is a fantastic player, but let me make one thing absolutely clear: no player speaks to his manager like that in public and expects me to applaud it. That’s not leadership that’s a lack of respect. If you have something to say, you walk into my office and say it to my face, not through microphones.”
“He said maybe I don’t know what it’s like to play against Erling Haaland, Martin Ødegaard, Antonio Nusa and Alexander Sørloth. That’s an emotional reaction, not a football argument. I know exactly what they bring. That’s why I expected England to play far better than we did.”
“We won the match, yes. But we were sloppy, careless in possession and made far too many technical mistakes. I will never lie to protect egos. If the performance isn’t good enough, I’ll say it, whether we win 2–1 or 5–0.”
“If players start believing a victory means they’re beyond criticism, we’ve already lost our standards. That mentality doesn’t win World Cups it ends World Cup dreams. My job is to demand excellence, not hand out compliments because the result went our way.”
“Jude has earned the right to be confident through his performances, but confidence must never become arrogance. The badge on the front of the shirt will always be bigger than the name on the back. Every player, including Jude, must remember that.”
“I respect everything Jude has done for England, but respect works both ways. Managers deserve it too. Publicly challenging your coach after a World Cup victory sends the wrong message to the dressing room. If we’re going to become world champions, we need unity, discipline and honesty not public disagreements after every difficult conversation.”

English

@markklfc Jude did not challenge his manager. He responded to a one sided view of the managers opinion of the play. The manager was balanced in his feedback - good and bad. The journalist only told Jude that the manager was unhappy with the team, Jude responded to the deceptive question.
English

@KC_Runz No emphasis should be placed on what Jude said. He responded to a one-sided view presented by the reporter. So on that basis his response matched the question. There is no debate on the managers approach or strategy.
English

For years & years & years England fans moaned they didn't have a coach with a winning mentality who pushed them to the next level, now they have that & they all cry about him being honest!
Get a grip! Tuchel is spot on, they were lucky... AGAIN! It's just fact!
Sky News@SkyNews
Jude Bellingham is asked about England's manager calling their performance against Norway "lucky". He says, "maybe (Tuchel) doesn't know what it's like to play in those conditions". trib.al/42FHXcZ
English

@SamCKx No he didn’t do this. Tell me this is just to make him look dumb. He didn’t practice his walk of grief.
English

@trudynwilson @IginzGloria When last you looked at a movie and saw no kissing on lips, and even more? But you ashore them kissing each other. A world of double standards championed by you. Love it!!
English

@KayrieTrix @IginzGloria Don’t let your bias get in the way of the truth. Not everyone wants to show the world kissing on the lips and the world probably doesn’t care if we do t see it. It’s not really a big deal

@NormOrnstein But lacking principle he then became the biggest trump supporter, and advocate for all his schemes. This after saying trump was not good for America. He was the biggest sycophant and unprincipled hypocrite!
