Sulfuric acid does not dissolve bones "without a trace". It does (eventually) disolve bone, but leaves small bone fragments behind. What sulfuric acid does do is balance pH in RO units such as the one on Epstein's island. Even monsters have day to day requirements that are not nefarious.
