We had it when living rural between houses last year, it was awesome. Totally worth it. We're back with Sasktel now as we're in the city & its a lot cheaper, but definitely Starlink was great. No issues with speed or lag. The receiver unit handled a cold, wet, snowy winter like a champ & maintained a solid signal even in a highly treed area.

Is anyone on here using Starlink? Free hardware, $70 a month after the 1st 3 months at $49. 100 Mbps. I pay over $100 a month for this with Bell. I've heard it's not traceable like Bell. A good idea in censored Cda.

I grow so weary of the intellectually lazy trope of 'just leave'. My hubby & I may one day leave because we have deep ancestral roots in the U.S. But we - and you - are just as entitled as any left winger to have an 'unpopular' opinion AND to stay in our homeland - where our roots are, where we are invested, where we pay taxes, where we are citizens.

As with any medication, the character of the user matters *a lot.* Any tool can be used or abused. Of course birth control incentivizes "casual" sex, but it's entirely possible to use it for a genuine medical issue or to manage family planning I also do not like that dichotomy, it's a super cartoonish view of people. And yes, I'm 19 weeks pregnant! We're excited! Good to see you here, I hope it's better for you this time around

"Birth control tricks your body into thinking you're pregnant" is such an overblown right wing meme The pill prevents ovulation, which is similar to ONE aspect of pregnancy, it doesn't signal an implantation overall. If it did, you'd be barfing and gaining weight like crazy. hCG is completely absent, and progesterone and estrogen don't shoot up. It doesn't change your physicality as drastically as they claim There were some small studies in the 2010s that showed birth control slightly influenced mate preferences, but more recent studies failed to replicate the findings, and it's inconclusive. It looks like it was a tiny statistical shift and not a total personality override The right goes after birth control because they don't like how it's propped up hook up culture (and neither do I), but plenty of married women who already have children take the pill. If it acted as strongly as she claims it does, many married women would suddenly become unattracted to their "manly" husbands, which does not happen Further, if the pill functions as she says it does, isn't it a BETTER strategy to date for a mate that will be safe and attractive to you while pregnant? They're unintentionally creating an argument for taking it I'd be happy to talk about the social consequences of the pill, but this narrative isn't factual and doesn't hold up at all, it's just a meme that gets a lot of attention
cpt dank@cptdankkk

Occult Feminism author Rachel Wilson reveals birth control makes marriage harder "Studies show that birth control tricks your body into thinking you're pregnant and the type of mate that you're looking for is more docile. And because you've already been fertilized, it’s your brain's way of saying we need the nice guy now" "Whereas, women will tell me I've been off birth control for 6 months and suddenly I'm into a whole different type of guy than I ever was. No more of these artsy, skinny boys, liberal arts majors. I'm liking the tall guy with the cowboy boots and the beard all of a sudden. Birth control will do that"

1. How easy do you think it is to leave? Have you ever looked into this? Trust me, if it was easier to uproot one's life & immigrate to the U.S. (who rightfully have strict immigration standards) you'd see an even larger exodus than is already occurring the last few years, to the U.S. but even to places like Mexico. 2. It is normal, & good, to criticize one's government & culture if you have concerns. It is called paying attention & being engaged. You don't have to agree with Tristan but the tired trope of 'just leave!' alongside ad hom insults is intellectually lazy. This is your fellow countryman, & he is just as entitled to both have an opinion AND try to stay in his homeland - where his roots are, where he pays taxes, where he is a *citizen* - as you are.

One thing about wokism in Canada is that it's *everywhere.* You can escape it in the states by going to Florida or Utah, but even your most right-wing corner of Canada is only slightly less obnoxious with the pronouns and land acknowledgements.

Ok long triple-reply incoming! 1. I also have concerns about bcp (both physiological/medical concerns & societal) but I concur, this seems to be a bit of a misleading trope. And as you know, I say this as a right winger is more traditional than most modern women. Rachel & Andrew Wilson rub me the wrong way. They do speak some truth but...something is off. Discernment & caution, I guess, as with many "Christian influencers". 2. Manly men...yes! My husband: burly, bearded, forester who used to work on oil rigs & drive semis. He fixes the house & our our car. A man's man, high testosterone. Also my husband: when I met him had the best art collection I'd seen; to this day 90% of our artwork was chosen by him. Also appreciates good music, does sound for our church. Dabbles in amateur nature photography...the binary view of right vs left online is so weird sometimes. 3. I am way behind because I have been off X so long. Upon perusing your timeline I saw a reference prenatal care...are you pregnant!?!

Also the "artsy man vs. "manly bearded man who hates the arts" dichotomy is so unbelievably juvenile Who the hell says beards automatically indicate good character, and being into the arts doesn't? My husband is a very talented musician, yet also responsible and masculine, the two things can coincide and it's even ideal for a guy to have some creativity IMO

I'm having to reply here to your last comment in our conversation, as I can no longer reply to you on our thread, because for some reason, Mikale blocked me. I was being perfectly polite & fair, so that's disappointing. Oh well. His loss, I'm a delight. 😆 Anyway, I do appreciate the back & forth! It was a solid, good faith conversation, which I always appreciate on here. And yes, my papa (who is no longer with us) definitely loved my husband, because he is mature, works hard, & takes care of me... it also didn't hurt that he asked for his blessing, the old fashioned farm boy that he is. I have a keeper & I always appreciate conversations that cause me to talk about him & remind me to thank God for this gift. Have a marvelous week, sir!

FWIW I listen to 'Alberta Bound' by @paulbrandt every time I enter your borders, & yes I cry to it also because I'm a suck😂. AB has always been our sister province, plus I spent so much time there growing up visiting family. Solidarity.

I'm sorry to hear about the suffering you, also, have endured. I love to hear your positive perspective on it! And yes...definitely it seems many become more conservative as they get older & less naive. That was definitely the case for me, though a bit different as I was brought up conservative & then questioned myself, I wanted to be more relaxed & 'open-minded', so the pendulum swung way too far the other way. Now I realize I can be conservative AND a little bit hippie, and a bleeding heart softie. Who knew? 😄

We figured out that dad has a psych med induced neurological injury, and has been suffering from akathisia. It’s been 6 years since any psych medications. Last summer his symptoms started, after a flare up likely induced by mold (CIRS) and stress. It was complicated by pneumonia and associated sepsis a month later. It’s been horrible. Neurological injuries from psych meds are far more common than people know. I made this video to explain what they are and what akathisia is because they’re not talked about enough, they’re misdiagnosed, nearly impossible to treat, and hidden by the pharmaceutical industry. I don’t plan on making another update about my dad, it stresses my family out, and myself, and there’s nothing more to say about it until things get better. I will be jumping up and down about psych med injury awareness from now on as it’s impacted my health as well, and is devastating. Prayers are appreciated still.

I'd muted you, but saw @chasepeeler 's reply & I was curious what he replied to, so I'll answer your question: Honestly, no. Though I truly did try to see it from your view. I could maybe see your response to my initial comments as more rational if I assume you simply honed in on the non-essential part of my point based on your individual lens (seemingly, the word Zionism; using that term had no bearing on the point I made). But you maintained your response even after I re-framed & clarified a few times, & no, I don't see rationality in that. So I moved on. If we aren't in a compatible head space to have a productive chat, no biggie. I'm sure if we were in person, it would have gone smoother.

Nothing beats the video games of the 80's & 90's (Tetris & Mario for the win, lol). I appreciate you hearing me out. A quick perusal of your timeline tells me if you met my hubby, you'd agree on most things & you'd think he was a solid guy. In fact, I'll tag him here. I like to personalize my 'X' interactions. @sglamb17 I also will note (with zero snark) you've posted about professional sports. Is watching other people play sports as a hobby different? I wouldn't judge your maturity for that, nor call it idolatry as a Christian man, which really was my beef with Mikale. Watching sports always seemed silly to me (& my hubby, he watches zero sports), but it just doesn't affect my view of one's character, potential or maturity level. It is just personal preference.

I’ve gotten more hate today for saying grown men shouldn’t spend so much time watching pro sports and playing video games than I have in a while (which shouldn’t be a controversial take). Quite revealing of the idols of our culture. This stuff is fine in moderation. But for many, it’s a religion. Bread and circus.

Sorry I had to delete my initial reply to you, the link I referenced was not working. I attached a screenshot instead. I do understand your view; years ago I held a stereotype in my head about 'gamers'. And if my hubby was obsessive about it, maybe it would bug me. But for the few times a month he plays (*maybe this is where your definition of 'regular' is the key, but as I noted in my reply to Mikale, my main issue was that he did not make a frequency distinction), I realized it's just a harmless hobby to unwind from working very hard. He also has other hobbies (he spends far more time in the garage as a car enthusiast, as 1 example). Him enjoying games a few times a month is irrelevant to his maturity level. My original reply to Mikale is below. If you read that & tell me your view would apply to my husband (or other men like him), so be it. My old school dad approved, that's enough for me. The standard he sets for me as a husband is high, & if we could have kids, they would be unbelievably blessed to have him.

@KellyLamb86 @realmikolson I have to admit and maybe it’s my age, but I can’t help but think that husbands and fathers who “game” regularly need to grow up. Time to be a man and lead and let go of the fruitless things of your youth. Not only that, set a standard for your kids- what a husband and dad is.

Welp. This one made everybody mad. But she’s right. Adults who spend time playing video games (unless it’s with their kids or younger siblings occasionally or something like that) need to grow up. There’s better things to do. Many things. @LizzieMarbach
Lizzie Marbach@LizzieMarbach

I know this is unpopular, but it will always be unattractive for a grown man to play video games. Some women might be understanding or pretend like they don’t care that you spend hours playing, but they do. It is extremely unattractive to women and will never not be. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you for this measured take. I concur. I was surprised to see the amount of posts/re-posts from accounts I respect who were bashing anyone who plays video games. Straight out calling them immature, or reverting to the stereotype that they're all lazy, sloppy, losers who don't take responsibility for their real life which isn't true for many gamers. It isn't really my thing (except hidden object games, I'm such a nerd lol) but my hubby enjoys them sometimes & he is a mature, responsible man. I want him to be happy; if this is an activity he can enjoy in his downtime, cool. x.com/i/status/20514…

Adult men gaming for a few hours a week is not the crisis people make it out to be. Most adults need some kind of low stakes escape, and women have their own versions of that too. What matters is balance. If the bills are paid, the kids are handled, the relationship is not being ignored, and the house is not falling apart, playing a game is just playing a game.

Also...as a side note...we actually agree on most things. I'd say 85%+. And the few things we don't, if anyone could convince me to change my mind, it would be someone like yourself. Which is also the importance of your method...you can actually change hearts & minds, thus create positive change. Because it is an approach that lessens the potential for knee-jerk defensiveness.

I have to be honest. Caroline has been more than happy to use Indigenous policy as a wedge issue. Focusing on DRIPA, land acknowledgements, private property, and new rules around the who can go to public parks. That’s totally okay. They are all policies, worthy of discussion, debate, and civil discourse. But this statement seems inconsistent with some of her other comments. The Indian Act is arguably the most racist policy and it still exists today. So you might say - why doesn’t she do an interview about all these things where we can have a thoughtful discussion. My team reached out like 3x via email, with no response. Then I messaged one of her team members who said after March 20, and they said that publicly. Where they said “I shouldn’t make public statements” about trying to get an interview. Then it was moved to after the first debate and they committed to following up - with no follow up since. If you make a lot of your political campaign centred around Indigenous issues, you’d think they’d be glad to speak with an Indigenous person about them. I think I’ve been very reasonable, open minded and respectful to guests who have strong views. I also, don’t want to pretend I’m the only interviewer to offer polite push back. But I haven’t seen any interviews that challenge these statements respectfully. I feel I’ve waited a very reasonable amount of time before saying this. My first reach out was February 23. I just think people who are seeking to become Premier, and have policy prescriptions for our Province, should seek opportunities to have those understandings discussed, and challenged for the betterment of all citizens. But maybe I’m crazy.
