This makes us SICK. Did you know about this? Christina Spicuzza, who was the white mother of four, was driving Uber to feed her family. That's when a young black man named Calvin Crew booked the ride on his girlfriend's phone. The ride was caught on dashcam - and in it, you could see him holding a gun to her head. She begged for her life: "I'm begging you, I have four kids." He didn't care. He shot her anyway, disposed of her body and then tried stealing from her accounts. It’s telling that NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, quick to defend foreign criminals, said nothing about the verdict in the case of slain NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller. He has never respected our men and women in blue and today made that painfully clear. It’s unfortunate to say, but I hope more New York cops decide to move to cities where law enforcement is truly supported and appreciated by their leaders.

This is an open and shut murder conviction case yet did Melinda’s staff not put on a strong enough argument for a murder conviction? We can be satisfied of a guilty verdict on manslaughter, but the murder conviction would have carried life in prison without parole sentence.

The last words Detective Jonathan Diller told his wife were ‘I love you.’ Detective Diller was a father, a husband and a son. He was also a dedicated member of the New York City Police Department who put on a uniform every day to protect our city. On March 25, 2024, Guy Rivera chose to ignore these facts, chose to ignore multiple lawful commands and chose to shoot Detective Diller. After shooting Detective Diller, he tried to shoot in the chest Sergeant Sasha Rosen. This crime stole the life of a dutiful officer and a family man and endangered the life of a devoted NYPD sergeant. The jury found the defendant guilty today of aggravated manslaughter in the first degree, attempted murder in the first degree and other crimes. I thank the members of my Homicide Bureau for prosecuting this case. I continue to extend my deepest condolences to Detective Diller’s loved ones, well wishes to Sergeant Sasha Rosen and gratitude to the brave men and women of the NYPD who protect our city.
