Today marks a transformative chapter for regional tourism as I hosted the Mozambican Minister of Economy, Hon. Basílio Muhate, in Nairobi. We are fast-tracking a landmark MOU to boost and strengthen our bilateral ties, focusing on joint marketing, sustainable wildlife conservation, and seamless travel between our two nations. We also delved into a future partnership between Kenya Utalii College @KenyaUtalii and the National Institute of Tourism in Mozambique. Capacity building is the heartbeat of our industry, and we are committed to sharing our Utalii excellence to empower the next generation of African hospitality leaders. This collaboration will facilitate exchange programs, elevating the standards of hospitality training across the continent. I look forward to finalizing our MOU and welcoming more of our Mozambican brothers and sisters to experience the Origin of Wonder🇰🇪. #magicalkenya #originofwonder #bilateralties #mozambique

A special note of appreciation to World Leaders, Foreign Ministers and UN Permanent Representatives who kept their pledge to us and voted massively for Ghana’s UN Resolution declaring the transatlantic slave trade the gravest crime against humanity. Ghana will never forget your remarkable solidarity. May the blessings of our ancestors be upon your nations. We are determined to steadfastly keep this broad coalition which has strong membership from all regions of the world for this is just the beginning of a long and tortuous road to comprehensive reparatory justice. It is perhaps not too late for other nations who missed yesterday’s golden opportunity to join our historic coalition for justice. United for Reparatory Justice.

I am overjoyed by the adoption by the UN Gerneral Assembly of the resolution declaring the trafficking of enslaved Africans and racialised chattel enslavement of Africans as the gravest crime against humanity. The process of its realisation, from idea to reality, was made possible by the solidarity of people of good conscience around the world and led by the active coalition of the African Union, CARICOM and other groups. I cannot think of a better way to honour our forebears on the day of remembrance than to have the majority of the world’s countries affirm that the trafficking and enslavement of nearly 13 million human beings is, indeed, the gravest crime against humanity. One of those forebears, François-Dominique Toussaint L’Ouverture, who was born into slavery but became one of the architects of Haiti's liberation, the first independent nation in Latin America and the Caribbean, said: “The greatest weapon against oppression is unity.” We must stand united in seeking the restoration of the humanity and dignity of our forbears who were enslaved and sold. #RememberingSlavery

Kenya and Mozambique share a strong and cordial relationship, built over many years of diplomatic engagement and strengthened through cooperation in trade, security, and people-to-people relations. In recent years, this partnership has grown even stronger, particularly in the area of defence. Our two countries are working closely under a Defence Cooperation Agreement that supports joint efforts in counterterrorism, training, and maritime security. Today, at State House, Nairobi, I joined Cabinet colleagues in a high level bilateral engagement between H.E. @WilliamsRuto and H.E. President Daniel Francisco Chapo of Mozambique, which strongly reaffirms our shared commitment to strengthening our ties further.

With the Kenya Vision 2030 implementation period approaching its conclusion, the development of the country's next long-term national blueprint is both timely and critical in shaping our collective future. At the invitation of the Office of the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, I held consultative engagements with key Government agencies on Kenya's post-Vision 2030 framework and our journey towards First World status. To bridge the development gap and drive sustainable economic growth, I proposed a focus on key priorities, including positioning economic planning as the nerve centre of Government. Present during the meeting were Mr. Arthur Osiya; Principal Administrative Secretary, Executive Office of the President, Mr. Joseph N. Busiega; Chief of Staff in the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and other Senior Government officials drawn from the Office of the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the State Department for Economic Planning.

Appointment of an African Union Special Envoy for Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has appointed H.E. Albert Shingiro, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Burundi, as Special Envoy to support the Republic of Gabon and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea in the implementation of the judgment rendered by the International Court of Justice on 19 May 2025, concerning the land and maritime delimitation and sovereignty over the islands of Mbanié, Conga and Cocoteros. This appointment follows the quadripartite meeting held on 14 February 2026 under the auspices of the African Union, during which both parties reaffirmed their commitment to a coordinated and peaceful implementation of the Court’s decision. Through this designation, the African Union reaffirms its commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes and to the promotion of African solutions grounded in international law. Across the world today, a child is opening a screen, not just to learn, but to discover who they can become. In that moment, confidence is built or broken, and possibilities are expanded or limited. That moment is shaping the future we are all responsible for. In Kenya, children are already embracing the digital age, exploring coding, digital art, and innovation with remarkable creativity. Through deliberate investments in digital literacy, AI, and connectivity, technology can empower every child safely, equitably, and meaningfully. I was honoured to join fellow First Spouses from around the world at the Fostering the Future Together Summit, on the invitation of First Lady Melania Trump, under the Be Best platform.

Privileged to host H.E. Jukka Salovaara, Permanent State Secretary of Finland, for the 5th Session of the Kenya-Finland Political Consultations in Nairobi. Our discussions reaffirmed a deep-rooted friendship dating back to 1963, now bolstered by our 2025 Memorandum of Understanding. We explored strategic cooperation across vital sectors, including ICT, Green Energy, Education, and Healthcare, aligning Finland’s Africa Strategy with Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) to drive shared prosperity. Economic diplomacy remains a top priority as we work to expand trade beyond our current coffee and horticultural exports. I invited Finnish investors to leverage Kenya’s position as a gateway to East and Central Africa, particularly in our Special Economic Zones. We are also making significant strides in formalizing partnerships for skilled labor mobility and teacher training, ensuring our youth are equipped with world-class skills in the digital and hospitality industries. Beyond bilateral ties, we engaged in candid dialogue on regional security in the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes region, emphasizing our joint commitment to peace mediation. These consultations serve as a critical foundation for H.E. President William Ruto’s reciprocal State Visit to Finland in June 2026. Together, we are building a multifaceted partnership that champions multilateralism, climate action, and a secure, inclusive future for both our nations. @ForeignOfficeKE @Ulkoministerio
