@UPS online you say you tried to deliver today .... but I received no phone call, no knock at the door, and no we missed you tag. Did you really try to deliver?

@BarryNSmith79 I don't disagree -- but when things aren't being handled outside of school they become in school problems really quick.

@KendieProf It would be nice if more parents supported school. But they don’t. And it’s beyond school control. I tend to think schools should focus on what happens INSIDE school. And parents should focus on OUTSIDE school.

@MarcusLuther6 Forget redesigning lessons - it's redesigning curriculum to be able to teach four grades in one room.

@TrainorCarol127 @andrewwaugh13 Teaching librarians assist in classrooms with literacy development (small group reading) to build skills with students. The plans to "add" more ASTs who are shared between several schools don't replace the one on one or one to small group learning students receive atm.

@andrewwaugh13 As much as I feel for the librarians, this issue is so far down the list of what our education system needs. The focus needs to be on class size, student learning, in-class support for teachers, etc. Sorry to say, technology will replace books.

@TrainorCarol127 @andrewwaugh13 Librarians play an important role in schools! From running morning and after school book clubs, supporting teachers with content curation, running book fairs / book walks, and helping students learn, discover, or rediscover the joy of reading.

@Smil3yAngel Every kid should have a healthy breakfast prior to learning... however, there are many families that do not need this support. I see so many kids throwing snacks and prepared food from home away then they complain they are hungry.

PM Mark Carney announced today that they are going to make the national school food program permanent! This is fantastic news. Too many children go to school hungry 😥 Children are the future and we need to take care of them and protect them ❤️

@andrewwaugh13 Any insight on how the province can once again be handing out layoff notices to administrative assistants and school librarians again? Two week notice was dropped today.

@CBCNB anyone looking into the announced layoffs of administrative assistants in NB schools? New round of layoffs were sent out today to "force" everyone to go back to the August cluster.

@UPS is it no longer policy for your delivery drivers to ring up to a unit? Just dropping packages without any call / knock is ridiculous.

Ridiculous. @Rogers 80$ activation fee for a phone? You've got to be kidding right? Nice way of gouging customers for more money to pay bonuses out of.

@tgrierhisd Parents / caregivers also need to be involved! Schools can't do it all -- and yes, I am keenly aware of adult literacy rates as well.... any type of reading together is better than none.

Seriously, if K-3rd grade students can’t read, why do we teach any other academic subject until they can? Utilize different teachers? Of course. Science of Reading? Absolutely. No excuses. How is what you’re doing working for your kids?

@Bell The telcos can't do this? How about ending the payment of huge bonuses and invest in your own company and infrastructure instead of waiting for a government hand out.

Canada needs to build critical fibre infrastructure to fuel innovation and sustain growth. Canada also needs the right policies to unlock that growth. It’s time to build, connect and grow Canada.

@Matherne_Edu @FixingEducation Or maybe parents should stop expecting teachers to volunteer their time providing essentially free child care after school through school clubs and teams. Parents, step up and do your part.

@FixingEducation It IS the easiest job one can have. If you don’t have short hours and summers off, you are doing it wrong! STOP VOLUNTEERING YOUR TIME and work your contracted days and hours. If you do more for free you are missing out on what actually matters: faith, family, and fun.

Consider this…many people HONESTLY BELIEVE teachers have an ‘easy job, with short hours, summers off, and amazing benefits’ AND YET, in the past 8 years, states have had a record number of teachers leaving the profession with fewer prospects than ever.

@FixingEducation And the "time off" is effectively a lay off as we are not paid for the summer. Our wages are divided over 52 weeks but we are only paid and contracted for 42 (plus or minus a week).

@FixingEducation Short hours?? I get to school at 7:30 am and often don't leave until after 5:30 pm due to the expected after school activities (free child care). there is the grading and planning at home. My summers are spent learning the new curriculum and taking PL courses.

@MrDanielBuck Homework? I thought homework was banned because it caused too much emotional distress in students.

Parents, don’t assume your child is doing well just because they’re getting As Look at their homework. Are there real math and vocabulary problems or just word searches and coloring? Ask them to read out loud to you. Can they read and comprehend? How are their standardized test scores? Ask hard questions at parent teacher conferences. Be skeptical of any teacher who only reports nice things. Are they learning? How do they know? Where can your child improve Do some digging. Giving everyone an A and only sharing compliments keeps the peace for teachers and administrators. And it’s probably deep down what you want to hear too. But it’s not what’ll be best for your child.

If you think teachers have it easy, you’re in luck. America is currently short more than 320,000 teachers. Give it a try! 😏 Or give subbing a try…to get a taste.

@andrewwaugh13 What was expected if they were expected to balance their budgets or find savings? The only variable is staff, not: buses, school buildings, operating costs. What else could they cut?
