and by the way i think the takeaway here is not that we should hate poor uneducated people, but that the republican party directly benefits from keeping people poor and uneducated which is why they create policies which do just that

Y’all thought trump was playing when he said he’d do bad things. Y’all thought Harris was lying when she said she’d do good things. Funny thing is they both were telling the truth. Y’all simply choose to believe the best about a white man and the worst about a black woman.

If you’re “strongly discouraging” the release of an ethics report, you’re on the wrong side of history.
Olivia Beavers@Olivia_Beavers

NEWS from @Reporter_Mia: Speaker Johnson weighs in on whether the Gaetz ethics committee report should be released. "I'm going to strongly request that the Ethics Committee not issue the report because that is not the way we do things in the House, and I think that would be a terrible precedent to set."

I know I’m a woke lib because whenever I see a post like “Government SICKOS took EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND TAXPAYER DOLLARS to give pregnant RATS birth defects with COCAINE” and I’m like… yeah, that sounds like a pretty reasonable price to study an important thing?

“Oh so you’re just growing mold” is an accurate description of the development of penicillin but, unlike Republicans, I don’t think that means the development of antibiotics was bad

Posts like these are really funny because 99% of important scientific breakthroughs in history occured because of people fucking around with useless shit. Tech bros really have forgotten what science even is, they just assume it's investing in 3 technologies they heard about

A lot of libertarians think this is some incredibly smart point to make but: A: Most of this research makes sense in context and is important B: Even if you killed all of it, congrats, you've eliminated less than 1% of federal spending.

Why do we need a Department of Government Efficiency? In 2020, the U.S. government spent $4.5 million to spray alcoholic rats with bobcat urine.

Vaccines save the lives of millions of children every year. Your support of an anti-vaxxer for the role overseeing vaccines undercuts the Democratic Party's commitment to science and children's health.
Jared Polis@jaredpolis

Re my thoughts on @RobertKennedyJr, Science must remain THE cornerstone of our nation’s health policy and the science-backed decision to get vaccinated improves public health and safety. But if as a country we follow the science we would also be far more concerned about the impact of pesticides on public health, ag policy on nutrition, and the lack of access to prescription drugs due to drug high prices. This is why I am for a major shake-up in institutions like the FDA that have been barriers to lowering drug costs and promoting healthy food choices. Lest there by any doubt, I am vaccinated as is my family. I will hold any HHS Secretary to the same high standard of protecting and improving public health.

Seeing people take scientific studies and boiling them down to “funny” and wasteful taglines it’s disgusting. Cats on treadmills! Must be wasteful! UH NO, it’s likely fucking spinal cord research. They’re making alcoholic fish! Uh probably to study alcoholism.

Guys I really don’t think “scientific studies that can be made to sound ridiculous if you summarize them uncharitably” is a major contributor to government waste.
The Redheaded libertarian@TRHLofficial

In 2023, the U.S. government spent: -$500,000 for Dr. Fauci’s transgender monkey study -A portion of $12M went to study dog rectal temperatures -$2.7M on studying cats on a treadmill -$8,400 on a lobster tank for the DOD -A portion of $12M to study monkeys on meth
