I remember the winter of my senior year (95/96) there was a storm like this. Tons of snow, some ice, power went out for a couple days. My mom sealed off the front two rooms of the house because they had fireplaces. We lived in them for a few days. We only left to go to the bathroom or get more wood. I volunteered to bundle up and go out and get more wood because I secretly loved doing it. The walk across the backyard wasn’t long enough. I relished the stillness. and the cold, though bitter, was welcomed because it is what kept everyone inside. I always walked in my initial footprints because disturbing the glittering white felt like a sacrilege. I always took my time to make it all last a little longer. Snow is magical; a maker of new realms.

@evilvillain1231 Um I get you and I have thought about this a lot but I lean toward dreamed instead of dreamt. For one thing as a singer I can SING dreamed.

I'm fully against any further regularization of English's beautiful strong verbs. One thing I'll be an open and diehard prescriptivist over. If its the past participle you WILL say "molten" not "melted", "dreamt" not "dreamed", "burnt" not "burned"

And the only words he has bothered to utter is about how he was a better president than the guys who came after him, and behind the scenes he's been actively working to prevent progressive candidates from succeeding. What a narcissistic disappointment he turned out to be after all the hope of 2008.

Look it's the ship – that means soon! The dog spun round in happiness - soon, soon! Lazy living for me! Do one for you, now. The girl shuffled the pack, closed her eyes and chose two, right next to each other. The first was a beautiful lady in a crimson velvet dress and a golden cloak made of satin of Cypress. That's me, she said, a great beauty! And they both giggled. Next, said the dog. It was the sun, blazing in the centre of the card, blazing in the darkness of that long-ago winter morning. Ooh, said the girl, that's the best one – it means I'm going to be the most famous dancer in the whole world – headliner every time! Come and see me in my French castle, though, said the dog. Course, said the girl, won't forget my best friend! And somewhere, crowned in light, St Lucie looked down on the scruffy pair in their little wagon in that muddy Dorset field, and sent all the blessings that a saint can send, which are considerable blessings indeed.

The Tenth Window. It was just before six & Dorchester was deserted apart from Bear, who was unlocking the church hall to set up the soup kitchen for the day. It was bitterly cold and the North wind was howling angrily up and down the High Street, but he turned the oil heaters on & lit a fire in the old grate too, albeit more for jollity than warmth. At seven, the doors opened to a long, shivering queue, and there were piles of soft, woollen blankets & well-knitted socks and jumpers to hand out & sturdy bags of coal & Christmas sweets and parcels for the young & old, & the heartiest breakfasts in the whole of Dorsetshire.

And another thing! Southern accents differ by region. I don't sound like someone from Charlotte and someone from Baton Rouge doesn't sound like me. A white woman from Virginia doesn't sound like a black woman from Virginia.
