11-year-old boy, while restrained with arms behind his back by two Officers, directed racial slurs toward a female officer and spat on her. The officer delivered a single strike to the boy’s face. No disciplinary action was taken.

@Jayarghpee @MartinSLewis They are buying the oil for now, for future use whilst the price is incredibly high. If a customer joins Octopus, they buy the energy, if that customer then jumps ship to a 'better tariff', that leaves Octopus holding the product no customer. Scale that up and that's expensive .

@MartinSLewis This feels like a liberty too far. Electricity co's make a margin from us all of the time. That's entirely fair. But levying extra charges when it suits is not on. We already bear the cost of failed electricity co's. At some point Octopus needs to bear some of the risk too.

Lots of people messaging me saying octopus has added early exit fees to their fixes. Yes that seems to be a policy change. It's fixes were never that competitive compared to open market, but that (as well as service) was its big sell. It is of course only for new not existing fixes. The market is in turmoil there are very few cheap fixes left so ultimately this may be a defensive move to keep it's fix relatively (definitely not absolutely) lower. To be fair all companies are playing with their now, mostly paltry, offerings. The market is all over the place.

A study on elite Kenyan runners found that 76% of their diet was carbohydrate. 20% of their diet was pure sugar. We like to demonize and simplify diet into good/evil... Reality is much more complex and nuanced. If you're running a ton, carbs are your best friend.

@MartinSLewis Not for taking my eye off the ball, but we're getting stiffed by @southernwater! Bills increase (and they still want more) whilst the services decline. I'm against re-nationalising companies, but this government needs to get a grip of these parasites!

The devastating Covid report confirms what many of us said at the time: when challenged by the worst global health emergency in 100yrs, Britain was led by a bunch of clueless, incompetent, complacent clods whose appalling decision-making cost 1000s of lives. Shame on them all.

@LizKershawDJ Of course they don't want you burning wood. They want you to pay to heat your homes. Just like they don't want you digging your own wells for water. My grandparents and neighbours drank well water for decades before the water board came along and tested the water and condemned it

An absolute must watch. Energy bosses have just told Parliament that EVEN IF gas prices halved by 2030, the soaring policy costs of renewables would mean bills go UP. Ed Miliband’s plan means more grid, more expensive renewable subsidies, more paying wind farms to turn off.

@NotFarLeftAtAll She's not a policewoman . She is a PCSO. The biggest waste of police resources ever. They are absolutely pointless, waste of time, uniform carriers.

Imagine that. You're 'allowed' to fly a St Georges flag at your own home without consent as long as you 'meet the criteria'. Any other country’s national flag, civil ensign or civil air ensign also do not need consent. Let that sink in.
Andy Saxon@AndySaxon78

All the flags UK households allowed to fly amid St George's cross row. The government page includes detailed information on what is permitted to fly from your home. We aren't animal or slaves. We will raise them where we want. Clowns 🤡 share.google/xfCOa43U2AcOIs…

⌚️🏃‍♀️ Opinion - How trustworthy is your fitness tracker score? 🏋️‍♀️ "Fitness trackers can still offer valuable insights. Watching how your core physiological signals shift over time — from week to week or season to season — can help you spot patterns, improve habits and better understand your body’s response to stress and training." 🩻 "The problem is when we treat the daily score as a definitive measure of health. It’s not a diagnosis, and it doesn’t always reflect what’s really happening inside your body." 👩‍⚖️ "So while it’s fine to glance at your readiness or recovery score, don’t let it dictate your decisions. Use your fitness tracker as a guide, but not as your coach, your doctor, or your judge." ✍️ Assistant Professor Cailbhe Doherty, UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science writing in @ConversationUK
