@hasanthehun @DropSiteNews @davidsirota How about because Tucker's a liar who covered for Trump for years, now interviews Hitler apologists, and thinks he was attacked by demons? You really think you can just ignore all that because hating Israel is all that matters?

⭕️ Graham Platner, the progressive Maine Democrat running for Senate, says he doesn’t yet have an answer on whether he will appear on Tucker Carlson’s show after Carlson expressed interest in a meeting in an interview with the New York Times. “It’s hard to tell if [his shift] is real or if it’s a performance,” Platner told journalist David Sirota, but acknowledged areas of real alignment, especially foreign policy and the war on Iran. “Are we exposing new people to Tucker Carlson, or are we exposing people that listen to Tucker Carlson to us — that’s the math equation,” Platner deliberated out loud. Platner added: “He came out and said he was against the war on Iran on moral grounds. That’s a stronger statement on the war than a lot of sitting Democrats. And I of course am also opposed to the war on Iran on moral grounds.”
David Sirota@davidsirota

I just spoke with @GrahamForMaine about Tucker Carlson telling the NY Times' @LuluGNavarro he wants to meet Platner. I asked Platner if he'd appear on Tucker's show - and how he thinks about engaging with conservative media. Full interview will be on The Lever's YouTube page.

For the first time in Gaza, power is transferred from Hamas to a newly elected municipal council in Deir al-Balah. No declarations. No negotiations. Just a ballot box—and a handover. While talks stall in Cairo, reality on the ground is moving faster. Congratulations to Mayor Khalil Abu Samara and the new city council. Proud to have supported one of the independent lists that is now part of this governing coalition. Now it’s time to stand behind this new local leadership. Their success is a success for all of us. This is what change looks like.

We should restrict TV for Boomers the same way we limit screen time for toddlers. It’s just as damaging to their respective brains but at least toddlers don’t vote.

2 Hezbollah officials tell Reuters that "several thousand" Hezbollah militiamen have been killed in the current round fighting, "though the group does not have the full picture yet" reuters.com/world/asia-pac… The last Israeli assessment, released on April 19, was that the Israeli Army had killed 1,800 Hezbollah militiamen. In the 2024 war, Hezbollah lost 5,000 fighters according to a speech by Naim Qassem in August 2025, in which he also stated that 13,000 militiamen were wounded in that war. Prior to this, about 2,000 Hezbollah militiamen were killed in Iran's failed attempt to keep Assad in power. Sustaining this level of losses, while also losing three wars against Syria's rebellion and Israel, would not have been possible without Hezbollah's educational, religious and media institutions. For 40+ years, these institutions indoctrinated generations of Lebanon's Shia that a cleric in Tehran has the right to obligate them (تكليف شرعي) to kill and die for him, and that death for him will bring them and their relatives to heaven (as the martyr is a "mediator" شفيع for his loved-ones with God). This represents a profound tragedy for Lebanon’s Shia community. A minority community numbering roughly one million people has been converted into a factory of cannon fodder for Iran's regional wars.

@DerekPederson3 The current leader of Syria was an Al-Qaeda leader 12 years ago. Do you think if the regime was toppled back then things would have gone as well as they have now? Things turned out well because it took time, you can't transplant that into how it was back then.

People who opposed toppling Assad because of the risk of instability really should concede that they were wrong, and keeping him in power was just far more destabilizing than getting rid of him was.

what’s the actual demand here -- a public flogging? fine, Kamala bad. now what? Trump is president, Gaza is worse off, every vulnerable constituency is worse off, and your great moral victory is that you got to feel untainted while everyone else eats the consequences.
charles r. davis@charizardavis

@hutchinson if gaza lost kamala the election, she is the one who deserves credit for trump winning. why is that so hard for liberals to grasp

@AlexanderMcCoy4 Respectfully, I feel you do kneecap your own (correct) point here a bit. By what metrics is the Chinese govt very bad? And how do those compare vs things they're good at? The west loves dubiously talking abt "freedoms" but whats that worth vs lifting ~800m out of poverty?

I know everyone is focused on the primary point here, but I want to make a secondary point that it is extremely gross that American politics is awash with the absolutely unexamined idea that a country with one billion human beings advancing economically and technologically is inherently bad, suspect, and zero-sum to our own prosperity. China’s government is very bad but a lot of countries have very bad governments. OUR government is very bad!
