That really did feel like the end of this wonderful era in @ManCity’s history. Whatever comes next, we will always have the last 10 years. Let everyone talk. Let the 115 charges come. It doesn’t matter. We lived the dream that every football fan in the world would love to live.

@1cornishblue I’m getting a bit “I’m not really bothered” to it all. It’s far tribal on here the tv radio. People can’t enjoy football for what it is. VAR has completely ruined the game as they spent time looking for ways to disallow goals. No players to really get excited about watching

This thread is very interesting. I did wonder if it was me that was the problem. But clearly lots feel the same. The hard thing is giving it up after so many years of loving football.
Mick@motleytoon1

Starting to ween myself off football, sold my season ticket on more this season than ever before. It’s not about results, over 50 years there been more downs than ups, it’s the product on view, the refs, VAR, social media “content creators” it’s all gone very stale #NUFC

In all the fuss about the Cherki "goal" why is no one blaming Alisson, who should have gone straight back in his own half after the corner was cleared? WTF did he think he was doing staying upfield in that situation? And with his rash foul on Nunes, he cost them the game.

@fukxumean I ADORE Bobb, but it just makes no sense to sell the guy who can alleviate some of the pressure on him after a year long injury when he's still basically untested.

Also, crazy meltdown coming from the guys who want Oscar Bobb to be given a proper chance. He will have that RW position on lock and you’re still crying? If Savinho wants to leave, so be it. Why would the club keep him against his will? Good player but y’all are doing too much

Why are some people struggling with how Liverpool could spend half a billion in one summer? It's called being a club focussed on success. 300mil incoming from winning the Prem and UCL run at least another 100 from sales. That's 400 before they touch their own revenue

@1cornishblue @SheikhMCI Exactly. It is a shame. It’s not so much about old or new fan. I think you be able to accept defeat regardless and not just winning. As long as you do that I’m not bothered where you’re from and how long you’ve supported city. Hate the self entitlement

@SheikhMCI @KevinMadden18 You will never please everyone. It’s a shame it even needed to be said. In the past I’ve hesitated to block City accounts but I don’t any more. Some seem to misunderstand the term “supporter”.

I am not calling out anyone specific here but I assume some will take this personally (as always). So plz move on if that’s you. I don’t think people realize just how much shit “Maine road” fans went through and disregarding it is ignoring the literal fabric and history of who we are as a club. They were there when we were shit. When all these new “fans” didn’t even know the club existed. When City was relegated back to back. Getting shit on in school by rival fans. They kept the club afloat when it was on the verge of going under. They were they when we were on top of the world. And they will continue to be if we go back to being shit. They’re not just fans, it’s a deep-rooted culture, family that’s embedded in generations of their lineage, something a casual fan simply cannot understand, nor will experience in their lives. Assuming “Maine Roaders” are ok with losing is more nonsense that these new fans say to put themselves on a pedestal. Nobody is okay with losing. Everyone wants to win. But how each set of fans reacts to adversity couldn’t be more different. And that’s what sets these fans apart. I’m sick and tired of people acting like going trophyless is a failure - it’s literally part of sport. You win some, you lose some, sack up and go again. Cut the bitchassness. Go look at how Giannis responded to the reporter asking if not winning a chip is a failure. These “Maine Roaders” understand that. They embrace it. Because they’ve been there. They’ve survived it. And they’ve lived it, good and bad. And they trust we’ll be back like we always have, instead of telling club legends to fuck off and die because their legs aren’t as spry as they used to be. These new “fans” love to celebrate our success but they throw cheap insults, abuse, and have petulant tantrums when things don’t go their way. They engagement farm and gloat about things like our trophies, big and smart spending, stadium expansion, global reach.. and then have the audacity to turn around and say the very club and players who literally made all of this possible lack ambition.. compared to THEIR standards. It’s a massive problem with this younger generation in general, they’ve all seemingly convinced themselves that they are victims because they’re too soft from participation trophies and being told their emotions matter. With due respect, what have these toxic new fans done other than get angry on twitter and order counterfeit kits from DHGATE? Who are they to demand “accountability” to someone like Pep fucking Guardiola, or to complain about “standards” to a fan who is living paycheck to paycheck and attending all our matches anyway? The lack of self awareness and cringe level of bitchassness is astounding and it’s getting worse.
Nico@nicotalksfooty

There’s a constant war among City FT between “Maine Road Twitter” and the newer/younger fans. In my opinion, both sides are right and wrong in their own ways. A Mini-Thread.

Also aware it's a slightly insane lineup. Just noticed there's no holding midfielder lol. Ah well. Goals or bust it is.

I like it! Buzzing for O'Reilly. He absolutely deserves the start. Incredibly aggressive lineup that.

@PStringer324578 Sorry but you wrong Paul. If these prices relatively speaking were around when I was a kid I wouldn’t have been a match going fan. My Dad simply couldn’t have afforded to take me.

If you continually turned up to work in less than peak condition, in a job where peak condition was a given, then your contract would soon be terminated. It should be built into a player's contract that it's his responsibility to maintain peak fitness and not abuse his body regularly, and a disciplinary process will be applied if he fails to abide by that, ultimately leading to dismissal.

@_joebray I don’t buy this narrative about being far from perfect. He had a shocking first 5 mins against Chelsea and after that hasn’t put a foot wrong

Since arriving a month ago, Abdukodir Khusanov has started against Chelsea, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Newcastle and now Spurs. Far from perfect against some of those big-name attacks but no other CB has started all those games and Pep clearly trusts him at the moment. #mcfc

Football really has changed. It used to be about going to the match and having a laugh with your mates. If you won great, if you didn't you chewed it over on the way home and that was that. For many it's still the same, but fuck me, now it's life and death for some it seems.
