Virginia, if you haven’t done it already, make a plan to vote YES on the redistricting referendum. You can vote early by April 18 or on Election Day, April 21. Find your polling place at IWillVote.com/VA.

Seattle voters will decide on a nearly $480 million library levy this August — a major increase over past funding • $479.7M proposal, up from $219M in 2019 • Would cost homeowners about $191/year through 2033 • Represents a 124% increase in the tax burden Supporters say it will fund operations, security, and expanded services, while some officials warn rising property taxes are becoming harder for residents to afford.

Waymo is coming to Nashville via Lyft. Nashville. Seattle used to be the city that raised its hand first for innovation like this. We were the ones who said yes before anyone else did. Somewhere along the way, municipal Progressives stopped saying yes to innovation, and started saying yes to whoever could apply the most political pressure. In this case, it's unions. That's a real loss.

“… As for the Millionaires Tax itself, roughly $1 billion per year (30%) of the revenue is dedicated to reducing more regressive taxes, and that does not include another $400 million in tax reductions for local sales taxes. The bill repeals the sales tax on services (which affects many businesses); repeals sales taxes on diapers (baby and adult), personal care products such as shampoo and toothpaste, and over the counter medicines; increases the working families tax credit; and will exempt roughly 70% of businesses from paying any business and occupation tax. It is the largest small business tax reduction in state history. Separately, and independent of the Millionaires Tax, the legislature rolled back last year’s increases in the estate tax, lowering the top marginal rate from 35% to 20%. With the passage of the Millionaires Tax, Washington joins 41 other states that already tax personal income. My goal is for our state not to be an outlier in its tax system, but to have an ordinary, plain-vanilla tax structure that produces revenue adequate to our needs, and does so fairly. The Millionaires Tax represents an important step in that direction. In any case, I fully expect that opponents will gather signatures to place the question on the ballot. So you will have a chance to weigh in on the question yourself. Again, I appreciate the chance to explain my position on this issue. Best wishes, Jamie Senator Jamie Pedersen …”
