@fairtreevillage @PlayerGaelic Because all a Wexford or Down corner back can think about for the last ten mins of the game is how they can get more viewers to ultimately up their Insta following 🙄

Loads of suggestions on further changes to the game of Gaelic football on the back of the Down v Wexford finish. Are we guilty of seeking the perfect spectacle?

The All-Ireland finals will stay in July as Central Council's motion for a two-week extension to the inter-county season set for a very heavy defeat at tomorrow's Congress. There's a chance that not a single county votes for it. Full story below: irishnews.com/gaa/gaelic-foo…

@j0fdw @PunishedPat1641 He’s right. I managed a team a few years back and one of the lads was so poor at tracking back in a couple of games that we had to give him a below in his performance review. It didn’t matter much tbh, he missed an open goal in the Leinster final so got the sack anyway!

@PunishedPat1641 Lad look at the demographic of the photo, you could count the amount of old lads on one hand. The older lads in management are at home with the wife and kids or still stuck in the office, they couldn't care less.

If you're wondering how corporate owned Ireland is, there's now inter-firm championship sports. Microsoft vs. Dodgy Building Contractors and such. Lmao

@TomasColton Average age of the squad tonight was just shy of 29 which is middle of the road. Park & Beirne the 2 old lads but very hard not play them tonight with such inexperience around them. Likely going to blood a lot of players this year so hopefully people don’t go too hard on them.

Hopefully Faz has a decent plan. Finish with 2 scrum half’s and 2 out half’s on the field. A few lads on their mid 30’s. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🙈🙈 Need to end the International careers of a few heroes and look to the World Cup. 2026 is now a building block

@Paraic_Fanning I assume the logic is that it would stimulate more development of new houses to add to the total supply of available houses.

If you are a first time buyer you are a first time buyer! Why are these grants confined to new builds only ? Surely by opening them up to all houses (if it is your first house) it will help with regeneration of older areas and bring families and youth back to these locations.

@johnsermac Let’s not pretend GAA players aren’t well looked after, esp at county senior level. They would all be given the day or half day if needs be. It’s happened hundreds of times for team holidays etc

The GAA are missing a trick by not having a Friday night game under the lights at Croke Park to open up proceedings. There’s a woeful amount of games spread between sat and sun. Night games under the lights are class too. Jugger.

@patricej36 Which of the recent directives are you seeing as most damaging to our sovereignty?

I'm a proud Irish woman, I cherish our flag, our culture, and our freedom. I firmly believe in Ireland leaving the EU. I’m tired of what I see as increasing directives from the European Union that, in my view, weaken our sovereignty and affect our country, adding layers of regulations that feel intrusive and limit our sense of control over our own decisions.

@vonderleyen If democracy is the foundation of freedom, surely your position as leader of the EU should be elected directly by the people?

having a debate with a friend - looking at 2025 v 2016 sides to play All Blacks. #IREvNZL . Was 2016 Murray better than 2025 JGP? Or 2016 Zebo better than 2025 Lowe??

@IKop96 @burgerreynolds @SmallerFishGAA People get paid to coach cross fit classes or spin classes but the people taking the classes are only amateurs. Should they not get paid either? It takes a lot of time and effort to coach Gaa teams

@burgerreynolds @SmallerFishGAA Coach of Douglas not S&C and with Eire Og last year he was also a coach who went on to get relegated . Is coaching an amateur club team work ?? It shouldn’t be sure the players are getting zero €€ so why should he, I saw him last Sunday the man shouldn’t have been on the pitch

Tipperary hurlers turned around a 30 point margin in 84 days. Lost a Championship match on April 27th by 15 points and won by 15 points against same opponents less than 3 months later. Remarkable turnaround and may never be seen in the GAA before or after.

Who would we like to see as the next President of Ireland? Mary Coughlan? Fintan O'Toole? Roy Foster? Mary Hanafin? John Creedon? Tommy Tiernan? Jane Ohlmeyer? Marty Morrissey? Roy Keane? Charlie Flanagan? Pat Kenny? None of the above?

After five hours in the Ticketmaster queue for Croke Park NFL tickets, there were still LOADS available. Cheapest were €225, so we ultimately passed on it. Hard to justify spending that when the sold-out €150 tix were in a very similar area of the stadium.

@cormicaneoghan Bloated wasn’t a great choice of words in direct relation to Cork, but the sentiment remains - we have too many different championships formats in operation across the country - I personally don’t think round robins are needed in championship, we’re obsessed with it as a format.

@noonan357 @malmcmullan Wouldn’t it also encourage fouling rather than letting a fella have a shot for 2 since the free is only worth one?

@malmcmullan Agree with removing the two pointer from frees piece but was thinking about it and feel anything from a 45 will now turn into a set play to take it short and have a quick shot for a 2 pointer. May take the skill of a long free out of the game in a way
