(4/5) Complementing one gene from B. dorei’s PUL33, GH (glycoside hydrolase) from family 33, into the B. dorei mutant or other Bacteroides strains that could not grow on sialylated HMOs, was sufficient for them to regain the ability to do so.

(2/3) Bacteroides dorei presents a generalized response to HMOs, upregulating glycoside hydrolase (GH) genes across all conditions. It upregulates GH families that were not previously discussed in the context of HMOs, highlighting the importance of unbiased analysis.
