@stoolpresidente Problem is Barstool really doesn’t have any “talent” and really lacks in having people who actually played or coached sports. You have fan boys who watch sports in their pajamas with a bunch of other dudes on a live video. Your “experts” at their top sport are terrible

Another glaring difference between ESPN and Barstool. When our stars become huge and command tons of money like Mcafee at ESPN we part ways rather than fire people who have been with us for decades to pay for the 1 star. Loyalty matters here. At Espn there is no such thing. Not saying our way is right but just more family vs corporate

I appreciate the nuance in your opinion, but there is a difference between popularity, appeal and being the face of the league. Caitlin Clark is the most popular player in the WNBA, and the biggest draw. She’s not the face because she’s not creating a new standard for winning (yet). She does not have accomplishments that people want to take (yet). What team is everyone trying to beat? The Aces. What player is everyone trying to match? A’ja Wilson. The standard for winning is A’ja. Michael Jordan became the face of the NBA because he became the standard by which every player is measured. Everyone wanted to stop him. Caitlin isn’t there.
Robert Griffin III@RGIII

Caitlin Clark is the face of the WNBA. She just had a 45 POINT 10 ASSISTS DOUBLE DOUBLE with 4 steals, 2 blocks and 2 rebounds. Shot 11/18 from the field and 6/10 from 3 point range in 29 minutes with a +16 +/-. Other players have scored more points this year and in years pasts, but most of all, IT WAS EXCITING. That’s why the fans love watching her play. Her style is just different than what they are used to seeing. Caitlin Clark is UNDOUBTEDLY the most popular player in the WNBA. Caitlin Clark is a record breaking great player on and off the court. There is no denying that. Caitlin Clark has helped bring record breaking viewership, crowds and money with her to the WNBA. The issue in the WNBA right now amongst the players is that when you say someone is the “FACE OF THE WNBA” every competitive player will only conceded that designation to a player that they believe as earned it with their play on the court. The “Face of the WNBA” to the players and former players is A’Ja Wilson. She is respected as such by her peers because she is the best player in the WNBA, the only 4 time WNBA MVP and has won 3 WNBA Championships. The Face of the WNBA to the fans is Caitlin Clark. She is the player that excites the masses the most with her play style and has broken numerous WNBA records in her first 3 season. And there lies the disconnect. Michael Jordan was the face of the NBA before he won a Championship, but it came with extreme push back from the rest of the league in how they guarded him and treated him. LeBron James was the face of the NBA before he won a Championship, but it came with extreme push back from the rest of the league in how they guarded him and treated him. When players feel like they are being overshadowed by a player they feel doesn’t have the accolades to warrant it, they fight it. They don’t respect it. But there is a difference between being the face of the WNBA and being the best player in the WNBA. Definition of Face of the any professional league, “Title given to the league's most recognizable, marketable, and impactful player at any given time.” The fans have spoken on this matter, but many players and former players won’t like it because the gap in the accomplishments between A’Ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark is massive. Caitlin Clark is the face of the WNBA before she has won a championship and it has come with extreme push back from the players in the way she is guarded and treated. Just like Michael Jordan and LeBron James were. Will Caitlin Clark ever become the best player in the WNBA? She can. She has the ability to. But right now, she is the WNBA’s most recognizable player. That’s not disrespectful to the other great players in the WNBA, it’s the reality of where the WNBA was before and after Caitlin Clark showed up. Regardless, it’s okay to celebrate the greatness of all the WNBA’s great players without turning it into a race war. For the players, for the fans, for the WNBA and for the kids watching, this has to stop.

@RGIII Yeah. Because of CC, there's a chance that Aja Wilson may some day become recognizable on the street. Which as of right now, she is not. I can't tell you what position she plays or what team she plays for, and I am not alone

To put it simply, Caitlin Clark is the face of the WNBA because she is the most prominent, marketable, and recognizable individual in the WNBA. She is not currently the best player in the WNBA. That’s A’Ja Wilson. The nuance that you are missing is that being the most popular player, recognizable player, biggest draw and bringing in the most money for the WNBA for 3 years now despite not winning a MVP or WNBA Championship, giving the players the ammo to get chartered flights with a new CBA that increased some players base salary by 1,400% and being the single player that globally other people recognize makes her the face of the WNBA. To be the standard of winning in the WNBA will take Caitlin Clark some time. Michael Jordan was the face of the NBA well before he was the standard of winning and before he ever won an NBA Championship or MVP because of his playing style and savvy branding. Everyone knew if they beat MJ or had the game to their life against him that everyone would notice because all eyes were on him. That is why teams play every game against the Indiana Fever like it is their Super Bowl. That is why every player with a competitive bone in their body plays Caitlin Clark like they have something to prove to the world. They know when they do it against Caitlin Clark, the world will notice. Having the first 45 point 10 assists double double in WNBA History and the first 45 point 10 assists double double in 29 mins in NBA or WNBA History shows the talent and rare playing style Caitlin Clark possesses. It’s okay to say that A’Ja Wilson is the best player in the WNBA. It’s okay to say Olivia Miles is the best rookie and one of the best guards in the WNBA. It’s okay to say that Angel Reese is the best rebounder in the WNBA. And it’s okay to say that Caitlin Clark is the Face of the WNBA.

@JasonC702 Here is what people need to remember... And this goes for every commissioner in the Major League sports world. They work for the owners. If owners are making money. She isn't going anywhere. If team valuations are going up. She isn't going anywhere. That's how this works.

I have a few reactions to this… a little bit of something for everyone. Before anyone comes after for me for what I am about to say, understand that I’ve worked in the media actively since I was 18. I know a hit about how the sausage is made. FIrst and most importantly… if you are a young person just starting out in media and want to one day be a talk show host, DO NOT do what Dan Patrick is doing in this video. It’s the best way to burn a bridge and ensure high-profile guests don’t come on your show. Dan Patrick can get away with it because he’s… Dan Patrick. 2. The hubris from Dan to intimate that the WNBA can’t be taken seriously unless the commissioner comes on HIS show is one of the more laughable things I have ever heard. Tell me something, when was the last time you were talking to your friends about sports and they said “I was listening to/watching the Dan Patrick show the other day and…” Let’s all be honest. Not very often/if at all. 3. It is a bad look from Englebert. It’s the first in a long line of bad looks from Englebert. She could be the most toothless/feckless Commissioner in all of sports. And yet her league is still on the rise in spite of her. To the other people that are considered to be “professionals” that are sucking up to Dan Patrick with retweets and comments, just stop. You look like a bunch of sycophants. If I am Englebert, I go on with Cowherd first thing on Monday or Tuesday and answer all the hard questions. Then Dan’s 15 minutes of people caring about his show goes away and is replaced by the headlines that DP could have gotten if he didn’t grandstand.

It has to be said: this World Cup is tainted by VAR. We’ve now had 2 game outcomes directly manipulated by VAR. Croatia eliminated due to a ball grazing a strand of hair, and now Egypt eliminated because VAR took a goal off the board due to an inconsequential foul on the entire opposite side of the field. The tournament is tainted. This is not meritocracy.
Mark Valorian@markvalorian

Another day, another game outcome arbitrarily manipulated due to inconsequential minutiae via VAR. Egypt should be going to extra time vs Argentina at 3-3 right now. Absolute tragedy.

Caitlin Clark is 2nd in the WNBA in assists per game and T-4th in points per game. A year ago, her fellow players ranked her as the 9th best guard in the league. This year, they dropped her to 11th. This really is one of the most interesting stories I’ve ever covered.

The only way she doesn't last that long is if they trade her, which I think will be hard. Will have to give up a lot to get CC through a trade. I also don't know how they keep her with Boston/Mitchell getting max contracts. I don't trust their front office to be honest, which is why I think her best decision is to move somewhere that's a better fit for her. But, I don't know it all and anything could happen I guess. Will be interesting to see how it unfolds.....

If I'm Caitlin Clark this is what I would do..... Ride out this next year and a half to finish her rookie contract, do not re-sign before then, and become a free agent. Meet with the teams/coaches she is interested in playing for, ensure it's a better fit than where's she at right now, recruit some players to join her where she's going to play, and then go shine somewhere else. It's very clear her & Steph White aren't the right fit for each other, the style CC wants to play doesn't align with Steph's system, and Steph just doesn't seem to like her much based off what we've seen in the past. The body language, the words spoken in press conferences, and her actions are making it hard to believe this relationship is going to last. This will be the time where the ball is in her court, she controls the decision and her future, and the perfect chance to go play wherever she wants. She just doesn't look happy on the court like we've seen before. Just my 2 cents......

This is a good example of envy-fueled slopulism. A 100% tax like this would literally raise 0 revenue, as no one would allow their wealth to reach past that threshold. Whereas a 10% tax might raise billions you could theoretically use to help people. But it’s not actually about helping people for slopulists. It’s just about class warfare and hating the rich.

This is the concept of “minimum effective dose” in action. By not wasting his efforts on unimportant plays, he has all his energy stored up to be as effective as possible when it DOES matter. If you don’t believe this makes a difference, test it! Get warmed up and test your sprint speed, then jog around for 5 minutes without stopping and test your speed again. Slower.
