As it would actually mean more fuel sold.
More travel means more business overall.
Fuel duty is the one knock on tax that lowering would benefit the whole country.

@Killboxer @KateFantom The Government already reduced fuel duty by 10% in 2022. Supposed to be temporary, yet it's still here 4 years later.
In the last 5 years, fuel cost is one of the very few things which hasn't at least increased with inflation.
The cheap ride can't last forever !

Heat pumps can access heat pump tariffs making the ration of gas to electricity only 3.7.

1. This is implying that a gas boiler is 85% efficient. This is much less than modern boilers achieve. 2. The ratio of electricity to gas prices is currently 4.6, implying that Octopus heat pumps don't in fact deliver operating gains. 3. The capital cost of heat pumps is high, so Octopus heat pumps are not economically rational.
