I thought the love for their 650 sq km known as Manipur (Kangleipak) was genuine. I thought seeking justice for the two innocent children who lost their lives at the hands of their own people at Tronglaobi was genuine. I thought their justification for attacking the CRPF camp at Tronglaobi to draw New Delhi’s attention was genuine. I thought their 24/7 aggressive stance — mocking and insulting the Rapid Action Force (RAF), CRPF, Assam Rifles convoys, and Indian Army patrols — was genuine, intended to get New Delhi’s attention. Unfortunately, after watching today’s Imphal West Police press conference, it’s clear that their real intentions and motives are entirely different. As I mentioned earlier, this is just another act in the former Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh’s @NBirenSingh and the current Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand’s @YKhemchandSingh “KAUN BANEGA ASLI CHIEF MINISTER KURSI KA MALIK” drama. Some people instigating this 24/7 violence are supplying petrol bombs, kerosene bombs, projectile weapons, slingshots, alcohol, and possibly drugs of various kinds. In multiple video clips, the protesters can be seen behaving like zombies. If Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand @YKhemchandSingh is serious about ruling Manipur, he must ask Hon’ble Home Minister Shri @AmitShah to put former Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh @NBirenSingh and his private militia Arambai Tenggol, along with COCOMI and various Meitei CSO leaders, behind bars first. Set your house in order before you preach peace and stability. REJOINDER TO THE NSCN-IM PRESS RELEASE. You were once known as the mother of the revolutionary movement in India, particularly in the troubled state of Manipur in Northeast India. As a proud Indian, I personally condemn whoever is responsible for harming and killing unarmed, innocent civilians yesterday. I also condemn the NSCN for the killing of two unarmed, innocent civilians — Thangboimang Khongsai and Thengin Baite — and for the attacks on Thawai Kuki, Mongkot Chepu, Shangkai, Litan Sareikhong, Mullam, and Leplen. The Manipur Government and the concerned authorities investigating this incident must also explain what has transpired so far and make their findings public without delay. I am surprised to read the NSCN-IM’s condemnation press release, which directly targets the Kuki-Zo community and the Indian Army without any fact-finding or evidence. If NSCN-IM does not know where the incident occurred yesterday, let me remind you: it occurred on your own home turf — Leinganching, TM Kasom, New Heaven, Sokhova, and Lambui (Ramva). Stop dragging the peace-loving Yaolen Village into your NSCN faction’s killing spree. How can a so-called 60-year-old revolutionary group like NSCN-IM rely on social media narratives for intelligence? Is it sheer incompetence stemming from an overemphasis on money, drugs, and business, or is this merely an attempt to blame one particular community to conceal actions taken against another NSCN faction? When your own community withdraws its support in Ukhrul, is this a sign of structural frustration? When your own community ignores your existence in Ukhrul, was this incident preplanned to help you retain control over operational areas? When your own community no longer acknowledges your organization, is this how you react out of frustration? The #NSCN-IM has strongly condemned the killing of two civilians in Ukhrul district on April 18, describing the incident as a “brutal act” allegedly carried out by #Kuki #SuspensionofOperation cadres. The NSCN-IM claimed that their actions have “exceeded all tolerance limits.” The NSCN/GPRN also claimed that there are growing reports of collusion between #securityforces and Kuki armed groups, accusing them of attempting to destabilise the region. 🚨Yesterday's incident at ukhrul, deep inside Tangkhul heartland was nothing more than another bloody chapter in their fratricidal violence, fuelled by the unrelenting rivalry b/w NSCN-IM & its Eastern Flank faction. While EF (Burma) is determined to assert total regional dominance, the mainstream IM refuses to cede any ground or yield an inch of its territorial control. Only Last month, following the ambush & killing of 4 of their "On mission in ukhrul" cadres by IM, 100s of EF militants slipped across the border & infiltrated into India for another "mission" in Ukhrul. This escalation fits a well-documented pattern of Naga factional clashes that've repeatedly destabilised the region. More importantly, the Tangkhul civilians involved had already safely crossed through Kuki areas on their return from Imphal without any incident. Once they left Mongkot & reached Litan, they've entered into territories recognised as safe zones for them, which is precisely why security forces provided escort only up to Litan. Beyond that point, right up to the ambush site, there is zero Kuki presence, only Central Forces deployments, Litan Police station & Tangkhul bunkers lining the entire stretch, rendering it a fully fortified corridor under Tangkhul control. The fact that the attack occurred in this impregnable Tangkhul-controlled corridor, rather than in Kuki areas they had just safely crossed points squarely to rival Naga factions Settling scores within their own heavily fortified backyard. In light of these circumstances, the incident point towards internal fractures tearing through the Tangkhul armed groups far more than any external threat. But even if the slightest doubt still persist about Kukis involvement, 1 fundamental truth remains: It was the Tangkhuls who drew first blood & set this dangerous precedent, long before any reciprocal action. The first blood was spilled on 11 March, when Tangkhul Terrorists kidnapped several Kukis. 1 escaped with bullet wound to the leg, while 2 others Thangboi & Thengin were mercilessly torutured & brutally murdered. Instead of showing remorse, the Tangkhul armed outfit Khanuithot issued a brazen quit notice to the grieving families, warning them of similar fate if they failed to comply. From that day, A string of unprovoked ambushes against Kuki civilians began. 21 March, kuki civilians, including women & chilren travelling Leplen-Thingpibung road, were fired upon & 1 woman was shot in her waist & another woman elsewhere. 23 March, an 18 yr old Kuki girl was shot in the leg during an unprovoked attack. The following day, Tangkhul Terrorists fired volleys of indiscriminate gunfire & explosion near a tuition centre full of panic-stricken schoolchildren, during which 1 civilian sustained shrapnel wounds. That same afternoon, tangkhuls ambushed & opened fire on Buses full of Class X students returning home after their board examinations. 8 April, Innocent civilians, including women & 2 year old toddlers travelling the same road were fired upon by Tangkhul Terrorists, causing their vehicles to veer off the road. 17 April, an innocent farmer harvesting vegetables with his elderly mother & a friend was ambushed & shot twice, once in the face, once in the shoulder. Had these attacks proven fatal & had fate not intervened, the Tangkhul-inflicted death toll would've exceeded 50. Mercifully, most victims survived. BUT survival does not erase the clear murderous intent, these were deliberate attempts to massacre innocent schoolchildren in their classrooms, farmers in their fields & ordinary travellers on public roads. So, even granting the minimal possibility of any Kuki link to the latest ambush at Tangkhul's heartland, a claim the security layout & factional history render highly improbable, 1 crucial fact must not be forgotten, No matter how one views the latest incident, the timeline is crystal clear. It was the Tangkhuls who drew first blood & set this dangerous precedent, not the Kukis!!

On March 28, 2026, when NSCN-IM killed four cadres of another NSCN faction belonging to the NSCN-Eastern Front, various social media handlers from both the Tangkhul and Meitei Minai communities — under the watchful eyes of @ukhrultimes and @LIANGMAIPOST — dragged the innocent Kuki-Zo community into it. After some time, people from their own communities clarified the situation and exposed their own fake narratives with the truth. In today’s incident as well, there is not even 0.1% involvement of the Kuki-Zo community. This is clearly another case of a factional war between NSCN-IM and either NSCN-EF or MNRF. For those keypad warriors who don’t even understand the location or who controls the area of the incident — Mongkot Chepu, Litan Sareikhong (Kuki areas), Leinganching, TM Kasom, New Heaven, Shokhova, and Lambui (Ramva) — these villages all belong to the Tangkhul community, and all NSCN factions operate in these areas. To be precise, bloodshed and killing one another is nothing new for the so-called NSCN factions; this has been their doctrine and practice since the 1980s. Today, another serious incident occurred along the Imphal–Ukhrul road in Ukhrul district. During an ongoing clash between NSCN (IM) and NSCN (Eastern Flank), an ambush reportedly targeted vehicles on the road. In the confusion, a Tangkhul vehicle was allegedly mistaken for a Kuki vehicle and fired upon, resulting in the tragic loss of two lives from the Tangkhul community. This incident appears to be linked to the continuing conflict between NSCN (IM) and NSCN (Eastern Flank), including past retaliatory actions. However, despite the nature of this conflict, misinformation is being spread, with some wrongly blaming the Kuki community without proper understanding or evidence. We strongly urge the authorities to immediately identify and take action against those spreading false information and making baseless accusations. #Manipur A gunfight between NSCN-IM and NSCN-EF reportedly occurred on 18 April 2026 at around 2:35 PM in Ukhrul district, Manipur, during which travellers on the MT Kasom–Imphal route were caught in the crossfire, leaving two seriously injured and five vehicles damaged.

Dongsum Kuki Village Authority firmly rejects the false and defamatory claims made by Tangkhul's Sinakeithel Village Authority in a statement on (17/04/2026). Just weeks ago in late March, 4 NSCN-EF cadres were killed in factional violence in Kamjong widely seen as part of the same entrenched and bitter rivalry. What unfolded today is a continuation of that cycle of retaliation, where scores are settled with bullets and civilians are left to suffer the consequences. A fierce gun battle reportedly broke out today (18/04/2026) between NSCN-IM and NSCN-EF cadres, around 2:35 PM in Ukhrul district, Manipur. Innocent travellers along the MT Kasom–Imphal route were caught in the crossfire, leaving two critically injured and five vehicles badly damaged.
