More than 25% of older adults fall each year, and falls are the leading cause of injury-related death in persons aged 65 years or older. In a 3-part video series, we will show different tests that can determine the likelihood of falls in older adults. ja.ma/4e6Rto8

A review article synthesizes the current state of understanding of a topic.   It can summarize a large body of work into a cohesive and comprehensive overview. Here is how to write a review article: 🔽

There's a lot of nonsense going on about how Tony Fauci "made up" the 6 feet social distancing rule So a little bit of context here would be helpful The 6 feet rule came from the CDC, not Dr. Fauci It was based on the flu model of disease spread -- where droplet transmission largely happens within 6 feet Flu is largely spread by droplets (little spit that comes out when we speak or cough) Those usually fall to the ground within 3-6 feet of the infected person A lot of public health agencies used the flu model in the early days of the COVID pandemic. That turned out to be wrong -- COVID largely spread by aerosols not droplets My critique of public health agencies has not been that they got the initial assessment wrong It was hard to get everything right initially It was that they didn't update fast enough -- once we knew that this was NOT being spread by droplets So yes, the 6 feet rule turned out to be wrong It was wrong because COVID did NOT spread like the flu Dr. Fauci did NOT make this rule He did push CDC to come up with better data 20/20 hindsight is easy Understanding what happened and being honest about how we got things right and wrong is how we move forward productively

In his first public testimony since stepping down from government office, Dr. Anthony Fauci was grilled by House Republicans, including over Covid restrictions like social distancing that called for Americans to keep 6 feet of distance from each other. @alivitali has the details.

It's about time to stop starving our patients pre cath. If there is an inpatient add on or any outpatient case that's not going in the morning, can we please give them a light breakfast at least? More data to add to what we have👇 jacc.org/doi/full/10.10…

The length of time to death for most patients once they are comatose or barely rousable is 2 days. However, this study highlights the importance of clinicians acknowledging and conveying uncertainty in prognostic accuracy. #hpm #hapc #palliativecare buff.ly/3WXQzoV
