You absolutely can still pivot . Though I`d focus less on chasing the “perfect” path and more on building practical skills consistently . Self-study can work really well if you treat it seriously / stay hands-on . Start with one lane, build projects, document what you`re learning, and learn how businesses are actually using AI instead of only consuming “textbook knowledge” . A degree can help in some situations, but initiative, consistency, and proof of work matter a lot in this market too . Don`t ever underestimate the value of the experience / perspective you already have either .

People winning with AI right now are combining AI with the industries they already understand . Medspa owner using AI for patient intake, consent workflows, and marketing compliance. Nurse moving into AI governance for healthcare systems . Project manager learning AI risk, security and vendor oversight . A cybersecurity analyst specializing in AI audits and model governance . A lawyer focusing on AI policy and data privacy . List goes on . Domain expertise + AI is becoming one of the strongest combinations in tech right now . AI doesn`t replace industry expertise, it amplifies it .
