Both guys have risks but TBH I think Schertz comes with more risk… Schertz: - Never coached at the P4 level - Offense may not translate - Can he recruit? - Defense is meh - May use us as stepping stone Gainey: - Never been a HC - TN offense is meh

Crazy thought: I love the idea of hiring Matt McMahon under Gainey and giving him the keys to the offense. He’s available. He’s been a head coach. He had great offenses at Murray State. Yes he failed at LSU - but it was because of NIL disadvantages and bad injury luck.

Gainey is a gamble, but how many times have we waited too long? How many guys could we have had in prior searches? Allegedly we could have had Gregg Marshall when we hired Sidney Lowe for example. There is risk in every hire. I don’t want a reject or a climber.

This is where I am. ABSOLUTELY make an example of this guy and exert every amount leverage possible. It would be fun to go through lawsuit discovery and check out all the communications over the last year between Wade and folks in Louisiana. I mean, what the f*** is going on right now? We're supposedly paying this guy to be our coach, and he doesn't even show up to meetings and may not even be in Raleigh doing his job later today? How is that not a massive breach of contract? Especially in the most important time period on the calendar due to recruiting. LSU has not even fired McMahon yet. Why would we just sit back and not make a national spectacle of this in public right now and embarrass them all - if people of this low character can be embarrassed. I mean, are we just riding with no coaching staff right now and we're fine with it?
