Hot take: It’s June 4th so obviously, we don’t know how either of these teams will end up looking on the court at peak performance…but based solely on roster construction, I don’t see Natty/F4 contender hype for either one 🤷🏻‍♂️. Second weekend/top 15-18 in the country? Sure.

In terms of talent, I’d say Louisville. In terms of coaching and personnel fitting better schematically for what these coaches traditionally like to do, I’d go Kentucky.

We all saw how the season unfolded, too…granted, Kentucky had the injury bug with Lowe, JQ, and Kam, but even at full health, I didn’t see them as F4 quality. Hopefully Louisville can stay healthy this year and gets to see their team hit its peak.

UofL’s offseason reminds me of UK’s last year: Great collection of talent (probably more), and on paper, should be a legitimate contender, especially given how much NIL was spent on it. I just worry about perimeter shooting & who do I trust to be able to consistently hit 3’s…

This article also states that Cal has drastically outperformed Pope the last two years…this season? Yes, no objective argument about that. The first year? No. Credit to Cal for getting things on track and finishing the year respectfully, but Pope’s first year was still better.

I love Cal as a person. Let’s be objective here: Cal’s last two years at UK: 45-22 Cal’s first two years at Ark: 50-23 UK’s last two years: 46-26 Only 1 more win in SEC play & NCAA tourney. I’ll give you the SEC tourney. With objectively way more talent…similar output 🤷🏻‍♂️

Love Mark Pope as a person, but realistically, he’s coaching for his job this season.

Interestingly enough, he said he was going to go to the school that he felt had the better roster to compete for a national championship…but is Kansas’ roster objectively going to be head & shoulders better than what Kentucky could’ve surrounded him with? Time will tell.

I mean, I think just about everyone deep down knew that Stokes was going to Kansas lol
