Jim Jones gained respect for Nina Lin & understood why she acts like a thug after she revealed that she grew up in a foster home in the Projects from age 1 to 8 because her parents were immigrants who were broke at the time “She said she grew up in the projects from 1 to 8.. in the foster home community. She’s more thuggy than most of these n*ggas in New York. This the bro right here”

In this video he says TS% is a bad metric because if you go from 9/30 FG & 16/16 from FT, the FTs boost your efficiency and don't make shooting nights look bad. If you shoot those numbers & go 4/10 from 3, your TS% will be 51.3%. That is only better than 7-8% of NBA players this season. There's a big group of people who misjudge/understand the boosts 3s and FTs do to ts%. One of the main problems with the analytics discourse is that people truly just don't understand them. Take time to understand the numbers and the context around them and it'll make a world of difference

@D_West30 @Steviesocali @TheRecusant_ I’d imagine they’d have come a little short of that but close based on what we’ve seen them do without him in smaller sample. Brown obviously helps a team. But the issue is whether that much help at 60-65 mil a year plus good draft picks is worth it.

@JoeDellera He's not the only smart guy in the league yet he acts like he is and y'all prop him up like he is. Fred Van Vleet actually has a college degree unlike Jaylen and doesn't get called this and he's the President of the NBAPA. CJ McCollum was the former President, he too has a degree

Cope. You may have to explain to me why any billionaire, of any race, would be afraid of the “smarts” of a millionaire who only has their money because the billionaire paid them for something — sports — that has nothing to do with intelligence. That sounds good on the surface, but makes no sense.

Black people defending Jaylen Brown by saying “he’s actually smart” are arguing the wrong point. Nobody gets punished for being intelligent. People get punished for signaling that they think they’re smarter than everyone else. Those are different things. Human nature is ruthless about this. If you constantly communicate “I’m the smartest guy here,” people stop listening for your ideas and start looking for reasons to humble you. Especially when your job isn’t to demonstrate your intellect—it’s to produce results. Brown is paid to play basketball. If his intelligence makes him a better basketball player, everyone benefits. If it becomes a separate performance competing with his basketball, it creates unnecessary friction. Intelligence is an asset. Making everyone aware of it, usually isn’t. The smartest person in the room rarely needs to announce it. The room figures it out on its own.
NBACentral@TheDunkCentral

NBA sources believe Jaylen Brown thinks he’s the smartest person in the room, per @colincowherd “I had two NBA sources … two people in the league, one an executive, one a scout, say that Jaylen Brown has — it’s a disease. He suddenly thinks he’s the smartest guy in every room he’s in … You make a lot of money, suddenly you’re absolutely sure, you don’t wanna listen to your bosses, you don’t wanna listen to consultants, you don’t wanna listen to teammates.” (h/t @TheNBABase & @Fullcourtpass )

Yea you right. His on off was the worst and to make your numbers look good. Derrick White had a great year while shooting 39% and 32% from 3 . You should be amazed they won 56 games and Brown was the most versatile defender and leader. You Robots make me puke !

Regardless of where you fall on the Jaylen Brown debate, it is pretty remarkable that the Boston Celtics were better with him off the court than on the court over his entire 10-year tenure with the team

@KinkyBedBugs Randle and Donte trade for Kat was bad on the wolves part but it wasn’t a bunch of value players it was just Kat. The pg trade wasn’t moneyball nobody foresaw how good Shai would be he was just a piece, none of these have to do with analytics.

Josh Hart is 1000000% smart enough to understand the value of analytics on his own career/the Knicks but he def has some form of cognitive dissonance going on with the whole “geeky unathletic white guys” thing. There’s a serious chance he never has a meaningful NBA career without analytics showing his true value.

I had to revisit this because this is so bad and corny. Josh Hart is by no means a Hooper. Specifically what we consider to be a Hooper in the NBA context. No bag. Not a shot creator. Not a Hooper. He's not a crazy knockdown shooter either. So one would ask "why is he still in the league?" And it's because the white nerdy unathletic guys have figured that the team is better when he is on the court. He provides so much more than the traditional box score would lead to believe. This is why we should not only continue to have him on the court, but maybe shift our lineup philosophy around to feature a guy who is 6 foot five at the power forward. Analytics love, Josh Hart. And in the era that he and some of the other others are champion, they would throw him away. I hate people who are anti-math and science, but then use math and science in their everyday lives without acknowledging math and science. Maybe I need to listen to the full episode, which I will, to get the full context, but this was a great opportunity for them to have a full and nuance conversation that seemingly is wasted because agendas need to be pushed
