Yeah, let me get this straight: A guy assassinates her husband, leftists cheer it and meme the death, conspiracy nuts blame her for it, trash her and her kids — then we mock her for being pissed and intense? Add in the “whiteface” parodies and racist mockery passed off as comedy, while the same crowd would lose their minds over the reverse. Grief isn’t a performance for your entertainment. The dehumanization and double standards are wild.

@iamrahstradamus It's kind of cool when people you disliked for petty reasons suddenly give you lots of reasons to dislike them for legit reasons.

@afromike76 @KAIROSMMA2 I mean, first confront that you're either glib or stupid. And once you've done that, investigate Shane Carwin, or any of the fighters looking to expand the Ali Act, which UFC brass has fought tooth/nail.

@KAIROSMMA2 I know you know this, Kairos...but, of course, anyone that doesn't should understand...White is a propogandist, and his incentives are clothed as "generosity," The 8-3 journeyman is worthless to Dana...Adin Ross is a useful idiot of the highest order.

@pmarca The sooner people decouple VC money shufflers from any reflexive notion of intelligence, the better. "I regret nothing" -- re: a demonstrably false claim.

@TalbertSwan So you are suggesting a college degree somehow makes you superior to a rancher, farmer or tradesman? Mullen is also a plumber and owns his own company and without folks like him that do actual skilled work people like you would be helpless.

Ketanji Brown Jackson graduated magna cum laude from Harvard-Radcliffe College and cum laude from Harvard Law School where she was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. She had 20 years experience as a lawyer and 10 years experience as a federal judge when she was nominated for the Supreme Court. They called her a DEI hire. Mark Wayne Mullin has a high school diploma and a 2 year community college degree in construction management, no military or law enforcement service, and was a cow-calf rancher. He was nominated by Trump as the secretary of Homeland Security. They have the caucacity to call this meritocracy.

Or, perhaps, MrBeast doesn't want people to know his politics because he will lose business. Jimmy attended a Trump rally. He recently hired 4 Republican lobbyists including Tom Apodaco (former Republican State Senator for NC) to lobby for his company. His bffs are people like Logan Paul and Keemstar and he looks up to and works with people like Peter Thiel and Elon Musk. His company is based in NC, which ranks DEAD LAST for workers rights. He took an undisclosed amount of money to build a theme park in Saudi Arabia. MrBeast is NOT politically neutral or “Apolitical”. Don’t be fooled by his constant PR BS.

This is also why I think Biden never recovered after the Afghanistan withdrawal. Americans can forgive and forget a lot, that's why political comebacks are possible. But they do not really tolerate humiliation that makes us look weak. Trump had the mess of covid, January 6, and all sorts of other smaller controversies. But his incredible political comeback was possible because whatever else he was, Americans never saw him as weak.

I don't think many people here really understand how psychologically scarring the Iranian hostage crisis was to boomers. When I was a kid, my mom told me how disgusting she thought it was that these desert savages could just storm our embassy and Jimmy Carter did nothing about it. It was yet another in a series of humiliations that defined the 70s and reflective of Carter's dismissive, hateful attitude towards the military (e.g. he refused to give servicemen raises even as inflation went out of control). 20 years after he left office, my mom couldn't even talk about Carter without getting angry. The hostage crisis is THE reason why Reagan defeated Carter. Americans felt weak and helpless because we had a weak and feckless president. It was the catalyst for the Democrats in my family to start voting Republican for the first time in their lives. Millennials had our version of Carter in Joe Biden. Donald Trump is our Reagan: the man who will restore American prestige and power. He'll be greater than Reagan because he'll solve the Iranian problem once and for all.

This is a very particular species of gym guy. He loads the rack with significantly more weight than he can properly lift. He compensates for that by doing half-reps. This move directly undercuts his goal, which is to demonstrate his strength to the other primates. Very sad.

@DouthatNYT Jesus probably isn't on any political "side"...but, yeah Douthat, it isn't hard to deduce he wouldn't favor Trump's political project, nor the sycophants that comprise the ENTIRE GOP establishment.

.@JamesTalarico: For 50 years, the religious right convinced our fellow Christians that the most important issues were abortion and gay marriage—two issues that aren't mentioned in the Bible. Jesus tells us exactly how we're going to be judged: by feeding the hungry, by healing the sick, and by welcoming the stranger. Don’t tell me what you believe. Show me how you treat other people, and I’ll tell you what you believe. Jesus gave us two commandments: love God and love neighbor. There was no exception to that second commandment regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, immigration status, or religious affiliation.

@robertwrighter No...Trump will not be a stabilizing force. He makes more money by leveraging the instability he can reduce/exacerbate. Just shorting then buying the dip in every scenario.

Nearly a year ago, I had coffee with someone who runs a DC think tank. We talked for a while about how much turbulence President Trump had created in the course of a mere month in office, and then we talked about how much turbulence AI could create in the coming years. Near the end of our conversation, she said, “I can’t believe we’re getting Trump and AI at the same time.” My sentiments exactly. But are my sentiments on target? Is it really clear that, just because Trump has a knack for destabilizing more or less everything, he will exacerbate the naturally destabilizing effect of AI? Isn’t there some reasonably realistic scenario in which Trump winds up exerting a stabilizing influence on the unfolding AI revolution, however ironic that might seem? This is a particularly apt week to examine the question of whether Trump’s and AI’s turbulent tendencies are indeed fated to interact destructively—or whether, instead, there is cause for hope. #KevinJames on why he doesn’t weigh in on politics: “There are experts who know much more than I do.” “I’m just focusing on what I can do, delivering a fun, heartfelt break from the craziness of the world. Everybody carries themselves around all day long with a lot of stress. It’s necessary in some ways, but you also need a break. You’ve got to look around and find the good in things. Otherwise, you’re just not going to function. I want to make people have fun, have hope and get a nice escape in their day.” wp.me/pc8uak-1lGTHt
