@Igi_POLCOM Man the NCR isn't exactly a perfect option, by holy shit it's a pretty damn good one compared to capitalism+ and a faction that is comically evil

Yeah The one that actually rebuilt it already and set up institutions that don't collapse the moment the guy in charge finds himself with the terminal case of courier induced lead poisoning.

the print is up on my site! this has been the biggest artwork i've made in my life, all the hard work was worth it. this particular painting is inspired by one of my favorite artists Jan Matejko and the playthroughs of old youtube videos where they mod all the companions to get to follow you. i've made several homages to some of my friends and mine's OCs and the mod Titans of the New West by Wombat. thank you so much for all of your support deimosart.com/products/2281-…

@TheCinesthetic They were very overrated; a lost opportunity in most respects. I still prefer the 1984 version, by far, despite its limitations.

James Cameron says sci-fi films almost never get recognized at the Oscars. “Denis Villeneuve made these 2 magnificent ‘Dune’ films. Apparently these films made themselves because he wasnt considered as a director”

Over the past few days, I've received a fair number of inquiries about a Black Friday special deal for File Pilot. My answer is always the same. As a Christian I will never sell my products during pagan events like that, nor do I buy anything for myself or my family during them. If you're a Christian, you should follow the same principles. It's not a coincidence that such events are always placed right before major Christian observances. Black Friday before Advent. Halloween before All Saints' Day. Shrove Tuesday before Lent.

@ChShersh @neetcode1 Most teams hiring right now filter for culture fit first, skills second. They're not testing if you can grind - they're checking if you'll ask questions when stuck. The effort thing is usually code for " will you stay curious when things break?".

Watched this entire rant by @neetcode1 It’s hard for me to relate because… I was lucky enough to work with smart people. I can’t fathom how are you going to survive even a month at a real job in tech if you’re not willing to put even a slightest bit of effort. Companies don’t hire you to tell you what to do, expecting an obedient executor. Solving hard problems requires creativity and going beyond a fundamentals. Software Engineers are not technical support. It’s not enough to memorise a single manual and just follow basic instructions.

I said what I needed to say and I stand by it. Some people think I'm just trying to tear others down. But I think it's the opposite. You don't lift people up by telling them convenient lies, you need inconvenient truths.

no ill will toward people like neetcode (i like the guy), but people similar to him, keyword: similar, are a real problem with why programming is kinda fucked. the entire idea that you can “prep” for the software engineer lifestyle and secure a high-paying job by being a DSA-slopmaxxer is why the industry is so saturated with people who can’t program themselves out of a paper bag. This whole “grind DSA → land a 200k SWE job → you’re set” pipeline churns out people who can solve LeetCode puzzles but can’t actually build software.

@davidcoffeeboy @bikatr7 You can literally figure out how good a developer is by just talking with them about their experience and their opinions on tools.

@bikatr7 People who criticize this form of interview always fail to provide a better alternative that scales for large companies hiring 800-1000 candidates in next 6 months, and needing to perform at least 8-10k interviews in total to find these qualified ones.
