We ditched the stable EU single market for the fantasy 🦄 of brilliant US trade deals… and ended up with higher costs, bureaucracy, and now Trump tariffs. In Belgium, the heart of the E.U., 99% of our media is owned by the Regime. The 1% that isn’t, regularly gets their offices raided and their journalists dragged to court and prison simply for being critical of the regime. Maybe have a look at your own backyard instead of looking at other continents?

✅ @Simon_Nixon is of course 💯 right, the case for rejoining the EU is now totally overwhelming. 10 years after Brexit, we have lower growth, higher costs, political marginalisation, and a country limping from crisis to crisis. Even Philip Rycroft, who ran the Brexit Department, now says none of the promises materialised and the argument for rejoining “is there to be won”. For British farming and food security the failure is stark: input costs exploding, SPS reset stuck in slow motion, US deals creating divergence from EU rules, and no coherent domestic production policy. We cannot afford more drift and denial. Food security is national security. Britain needs to face reality and have the honest conversation about our future in Europe.

US troops are not in Germany to protect Germany. They’re there because the US needs bases to conduct operations beyond the North American continent. If Trump withdraws them, he will harm the United States, not Germany. It’s absurd how many Americans fail to grasp this.

Trump is pulling ~5,000 troops (with more cuts signaled) from Germany after Chancellor Friedrich Merz criticized the US-Israel war on Iran, calling it humiliating for the US with no clear exit strategy. This fits Trump's long push for NATO burden-sharing—he's long argued Germany free-rides on US protection. It could complicate logistics. Ramstein Air Base is a major US hub for Middle East ops, but 5k from ~35k+ troops leaves most intact. US can route via other bases (Italy, UK, etc.). Further reductions would strain more.

Good luck continuing to wage your war against Iran without your German bases. Well nigh impossible. US troops aren’t in Germany to protect Germans. They’ve been there to project US power. Bye bye.
