@HockeyPatrol For shits and giggles, what else (if anything) would Toronto expect in a Aho for AM trade?
English

Untouchables
- Matthew Knies (23, $7.75-million until 2031)
- Easton Cowan (20, $900,000 until 2029)
- Ben Danford (20, $931,000 until 2030)
- Gavin McKenna*
- Dennis Hildeby ($841,000 until 2029)
- Artur Akhtyamov ($900,000 until 2030)
Knies is 23 years old, just had 66 points in 79 games and is locked up with a very reasonable deal for the next six seasons.
There were reports that teams view him higher than Auston Matthews but Toronto smartly said no. He's a future superstar in the league and potentially Toronto's next captain.
Cowan and Danford are the two top prospects in the system right now and with Cowan just coming off a very good rookie season and Danford being viewed as someone who can help as early as next year; they're off limits.
McKenna hasn't been drafted yet though it's highly likely he's the guy that the Maple Leafs and GM John Chayka go after, and there's no way he's getting dealt.
Both Toronto's goalies could offer a great package but with questions about the health of Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz; they need insurance.
Two potential starters who can handle playoff pressure is rare and Toronto has four of them now; plus Hildeby and Akhtyamov have both signed long-term extensions - they're part of the future.
So now, we're going to take a look at the rest of the roster and how it shapes up.

@NHLRumourReport I don’t care what we need, you can trade for or draft a 2nd rounder RD. Do not blow this pick on Reid or verheoff etc. get McKenna and go from there
English

@NHLRumourReport Oh you actually had someone? Did you CJ? Did you really? How about just wait and see what happens instead of making shit up

Frank Seravalli: Re NHL draft: A number of teams that I've talked to, no fewer than three, have said if they had the #1 pick, Ivar Stenberg would be their guy; I still think it's probably more likely than not that the Leafs end up going with Gavin McKenna - FAN Pregame (5/7)

While the draft pick still needs to be made and the future of Auston Matthews in Toronto needs to become more settled, both Gavin McKenna’s camp and Auston Matthews’ camp are 𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗘𝗫𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗗 about the possibility of playing together and, in McKenna’s situation, potentially playing for the Leafs.
The opportunity to join an Original Six franchise like Toronto, play in one of hockey’s biggest markets, and potentially learn alongside a former first overall pick in Matthews is viewed as an extremely exciting situation from McKenna’s side. Matthews’ camp is also said to be very enthusiastic about the possibility.
There is still plenty that needs to play out over the coming weeks, including Toronto’s offseason plans and additional roster decisions, but early indications suggest there is strong excitement from all sides involved. 💙💪

@bigheadhcky Stecher will be 7th D or will swap with Benny. And I guess Lorentz or Joshua or domi will have to go, because domi is NOT gonna be a Center, that’s Bo Groulx spot

@Leafslatest Please stay Robo, one of the most hardworking leafs out there. Gives it 110 every night. Will be a huge shame if we lose him

Just as the Leafs’ season was winding down a few weeks ago, Nick Robertson had some thoughts on his future with the Leafs organization, saying he wants to be somewhere he’s wanted; if not, he’ll go to market.
“I want to be somewhere where I’m wanted. That’s up to the team, whether they want me or not. Whether that’s here or somewhere else, I know a team will want me.
If the team wants me, they want me. If they don’t, I’ll go on the market.”

🚨 The Maple Leafs have 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 to interview Panthers AGM Sunny Mehta for their open GM position.
The NJ Devils (who also fired their GM) have done the same.

@Steve_Dangle At least the we got the mandatory once per game Lorentz/jarnkrok shorthanded 2-on-1 or breakaway that resulted in a goal for once
English

@Leafslatest I mean, keep it up, you’re not too far out from the bottom 5, get that 1st pick back and start fresh.
English

Anthony Stolarz says he understands people booing at games when the team isn’t playing well because they spend their hard-earned money to be there, but hopes the Leafs can take it as motivation:
“We hear the boos, but it’s no excuse. We have to work hard. Obviously people are frustrated, they pay hard-earned money to watch us.
It’s just more motivation for us. We have to find a way to crawl out of this.”

@NHLRumourReport If they are this set on running it back with like 80% the same team… FIRE BERUBE so you can see how they perform under a different system before the offseason, then make these choices
English

@tacosandmargs85 @JesseBlake @AdamWylde @sdpnsports jets won the presidents trophy and now bottom 6. English
