Drew McIntyre explains why house shows never made sense to him profit wise.
“These days, I probably wrestle one match every couple of months. They finally eliminated most of the non-televised shows. One, the talent were just getting hurt all the time and going out quicker, and two, from a profit standpoint, it just didn’t make sense. It never made sense to me, profit-wise. So now, the money’s in the TV deals and all the other massive deals that the billion dollar man Nick Khan is constantly making so because I’m wrestling once every two months, every three months, I do feel like I’ve been in a car crash after the matches and I train for each match now, like, I assume a boxer would train for a fight, UFC fighter would train for a fight, I train for each pro wrestling match.”

The same way I see some white folk downgrading Prince, prime MJ or even Beyonce, I see a lot of Black folk downgrading the Beatles. I get it. White artists get a lot of overhyped glory (see Elvis). But the Beatles were the real deal, mane. Broke a lot of ground. Just saying.

30 years after Rikidozan's peak was like 1987. He was far bigger in Japan than Hogan in the U.S. in 2017. Besides this argument isn't about fame, it was most influential, Hogan didn't create an industry, Hogan didn't at one time have seven or eight of the ten biggest TV ratings in history (Not wrestling, TV in general), his matches were never bigger culturally in the U.S. than the Super Bowl, did not essentially be a prime force in television becoming an instituion, nor did he train and groom cultural figures at the level of Baba & Inoki in Japan and Kim Ill in South Korea. 40 books, far more than that number in documentaries.
