Proud to report that on the last day of the year my Associate, Vick Karagueuzian, won a jury trial. The jury came back 12 to 0 in favor of the landlord. This marked Vick's 8th jury trial win in a row!

Well done! Was this a trial over non-payment or a non-monetary breach? We have seen Legal Aid in every court at every docket in Maryland following COVID. The Federal resources spent to fund free legal services to tenants is massive because it costs less than housing the homeless.

Here we go again. Our firm has just won another jury trial against the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. My associate, Vick Karagueuzian, did an incredible job. For the record, this was his 7th consecutive win doing jury trials.

@daveharrington @DennisBlock It’s hard to gauge or quantify how many actually move forward to trial. Typically, the rent control/below market cases are the most contentious. Sometimes the personality of the litigants plays a role. The case Dennis is referring to took 192 days after notice expired.

@DennisBlock What percentage of your eviction cases end up in jury trials? Also, what would you say is the average timeline today from eviction filing to completion in LA?

More than 19,000 displaced Artsakh Armenians have evacuated to Armenia, nearly 1/5th of the country. 2,500 were provided with accommodation. Specifically, 1,000 in Syunik, 500 in Vaik, and 500 in Gegharkunik. Housing accommodations are being organized in the Tavush Province. The Stepanakert-Kornidzor road is experiencing heavy congestion due to various factors, leading to a lack of communication for many Artsakh citizens who have been traveling to the Republic of Armenia since yesterday. Phone charging problems have already arisen, and there are shortages of fuel and food, exacerbating the slow-moving queue. The operational procedures at the illegal Azerbaijani checkpoint are causing further hardship and humiliation for Artsakh Armenians and artificially extending the already kilometer-long queue. This is occurring due to the collapse of state administration, as individuals are chaotically attempting to move to the Republic of Armenia as fast as possible. According to information circulating on the internet, the Berdzor corridor’s current capacity is approximately 20-30 cars per hour, but around 10,000 cars departed from Stepanakert. This situation will create additional challenges for people, leaving them stranded on the road for days, already exhausted and worn out from the war and blockade.
