@doomscroll_x Thinking back to, it’s like 2004 and 2008 are 20 years a part. 08 is when the Obama Hope and Change Cancel Culture progressivism began and the early 00s man culture and Nu Metal music got demonized. The iPhone also came out and quickly changed things

LA is seeing the world’s first political election determined by AI-created viral meme videos Historically a very very large % of the dollars raised in any election goes to trad media - making commercials, buying air time, etc We’re seeing AI + social disruption live… a preview of the future!

@j5_jazzy @hearinladotcom That fact doesn’t make his claims about helicopters being able to dip into the reservoirs and the winds not interfering with the fire fight true. I still like Spencer better for the job, but Bass’s statements were mostly right.

@LArothstein @hearinladotcom Note the importance of fire containment in first few hours of activity. Winds were not 80 mph during that time. The end.

Of the many many many reason Spencer Pratt, who isn’t qualified to manage a Starbucks, won’t become Mayor of LA, is he foolishly places all the blame of the Palisades Fire on Karen Bass. She hasn’t been a good mayor, but even the LAFD admits they didn’t properly extinguish the fire on the 1st that turned into the devastation on the 7th. abc7.com/amp/post/la-fi… "I saw something, I said something and to my best ability, I felt like we could have done more," Scott Pike, a 23-year veteran of the LAFD said about not fully putting out the fire. Until Mr Pratt is ready to point fingers at the right people, get ready for Mayor Raman in a landslide.

@j5_jazzy @hearinladotcom Planes were grounded shortly before 8pm (confirmed in the CBS piece). Winds exceed 80mph nearby in Malibu that night. Reservoirs were potable so no dipping. The biggest failures were not putting the arsonist’s fire out the week prior and pre-deployment. laist.com/news/climate-e…

@LArothstein @hearinladotcom The wind comment has been fact-checked numerous times. He was correct, Bass was not. Bass is a liar on multiple fronts, but that misstep gave the public an official example.

@therossg @hearinladotcom Ah, but the water at the Santa Ynez heli-hydrant comes from the standard LADWP municipal system, meaning it remains functional even if the reservoir is drained for repairs. The LAFD confirmed helicopters used the adjacent helipad and hydrant until nightfall on January 7, 2025.

@LArothstein @hearinladotcom Here’s a Helicopter in action in 2024 at the Santa Ynez Reservoir, notice it being filling up with a hose. See that’s water being used to fight a fire. But, during the palisades fire there was water in the reservoirs, so the nearest reservoir was in Malibu. Timing is critical.

Lol @dsa_losangeles, your “recommended” candidate, Nithya, not only supports Israel, she no longer wants to defund the police. This is the weakest DSA chapter in the country. Vote for Rae if you’re true DSA!!

I’ve been a registered Democrat since I turned 18, a mere 6 weeks before voting in my first election for John Kerry. Don’t let people like Brian bully us out of the party. The Berniecrats are in the minority. That’s why Bernie never won a primary.
Brian Calderón Tabatabai@BrianCTabatabai

@Justin_G0rd0n This is hilarious. I’m guessing you aren’t actually a Democrat. I understand that a Republican can’t get elected in LA, but no need to lie

@hearinladotcom Afraid of Nithya?? She said the dumbest stuff ever: Cutting cops, encampments by schools, taking credit for Bass’s policies that Nithya also claims to oppose, and voluntary treatment for even the worst case unhoused drug addicts. LA isn’t in a position for luxury beliefs.

People scoffed when Nithya accused Spencer and Mayor Bass of forming an alliance against her. Yet during the debate Spencer and Bass were mighty soft on each other - which is fine. Spencer knows Bass is on the ropes and it's easy to demonize her. Likewise Karen knows Spencer has zero chance to win, so a runoff versus the Santa Barbaran would be an easier path than versus a sitting Councilwoman. But now Bass, like Pratt, has elected not to take part in the upcoming League of Women Voters and Pat Brown Institute televised debate. The mayor initially accepted the invite but today has reneged after her disappointing debate appearance a few days ago. Could it be that she fears facing CM Raman, businessman Adam Miller and community advocate Rev. Rae Huang on a panel without Pratt to distract? Or did she feel like she dodged a bullet from Nithya at Skirball who didn't bring up the fact the Mayor spent money on an outside audit of Inside Safe instead of letting @LAController do his job? Her pet project might very well be what kills her reelection chances more than the Palisades Fires which the LAFD has admitted blame. But no one is to blame for the bungling of Inside Safe other than the mayor herself. Developing...

@hearinladotcom In 2018, 560K ballots were cast in the June Primary. About the same as when Caruso kept Bass under 50% in 2022. Not to mention automatic voter registration at the DMV didn’t start until March 2018.
