The Law Development Center (LDC) released results for Bar Course Students for the 2024/2025 Academic Year. I want to extend my gratitude to the entire management team, the Director Dr. Pamela Tibihikirra-Kalyegira, and Head Bar Course Mr. Robert Mackay for the good work they have done. This particular academic year had its peculiar needs since there were two intakes and a total of about 3,000 students. Despite this, administration was able to arrange an environment that facilitated completion of the Course. Secondly, to the students who were unable to pass. I hear you comrades. Take this as a delay but not a defeat. Whether you are to repeat the course, or to do an additional (supplementary) exam, we will keep supporting you. Please reach out for any form of assistance within our means. To those who passed, well done. Enjoy the moment. And congratulations. To all of us: we must remember to embrace victory with HUMILITY, to embrace loss with GRACE, because they are both TEMPORARY and our EMOTIONS should not override them. Again, we trust the administration of the Centre and we continue to hope that those who have supplementaries both in (what we call) Category A and B are supported to do them to be able to graduate on 19th June, 2026. Danke schön.

Students @LDCStudentsUG must read and understand facts. This week is practical. Imagine a client narrating to you a story, what would your “obvious” response be for a remedy? Then put it in proper legal format. Always understand the facts. Be precise. Complete the IA. Good luck!

#RNBLive43: We Geoffrey Kazinda Family Petitions Uganda Law Society "We, the family of Geoffrey Kazinda, wish to draw the attention of the Uganda Law Society to the continued injustice surrounding our father’s case. Mr. Kazinda was convicted and sentenced 8 years in Luzira prison, but upon appeal, the Court of Appeal, in June 2024, quashed all charges against him. However, the Attorney General subsequently appealed the decision and sought a stay of execution of the judgment. Since then, there have been several changes in the composition of the judicial panels handling the matter — some judges have since passed on, while others have retired. We are also aware that Chief Justice @ac_owinydollo is due to retire in January, as indicated in the recent advertisement published by the Judicial Service Commission. In light of these developments, we call upon the Uganda Law Society to intervene and issue a public statement urging the Judiciary to expedite the determination of this matter before the current Chief Justice retires. Our father has been in detention for too long despite the Court of Appeal having cleared him of all charges. He is sickly, frail, and suffering in jail. We deserve to know — is our father guilty or free?

This afternoon, we were pleased to have a session with the revered Hon. Justice Stephen Mubiru, who gave a Guest Lecture to LDC Students on Handling Criminal APPEALS to High Court. In my remarks as Guild President, I credited him for his EFFORTS in ensuring QUALITY judgements that speak not only to litigants but also to Advocates and students. Justice Mubiru's exposure formerly as a Bar Course student, an Advocate, a Head Bar Course, and currently as a High Court Judge makes him very ALIVE to the academic and professional NEEDS of a day-one Advocate. As Bar Course students who are soon joining the profession, we will continue to benefit from his wealth of EXPERIENCE and we thank him for that.

Hey LDC Bar Course student beginning your finals in a few days, Here’s a thread you might consider reading. GWE AFUNAMU. 🧵 1.👩🏾‍⚖️ Have your notes in order. Don’t show up for war without ammunition. Know your books like you know your crush’s last seen on WhatsApp. 2.👩🏾‍⚖️ Attempt every workshop. Imagine an exam drops Workshop 2 of Corporate financing and you skipped it? Premium tears, deluxe edition. 3.👩🏾‍⚖️ Statutes are your BFFs. Don’t just walk around with them for bragging rights. Read them. Digest them. Marry them if you must. 4.👩🏾‍⚖️ Pens! Carry an entire stationery shop. I used 3–6 pens per paper. Don’t be that lost cow mooing for a pen while others are wondering whether to draft a Plaint or Notice of Motion. 5.👩🏾‍⚖️ Write fast. Your writing should outcompete Usain Bolt’s speed. But this doesn’t mean you should write like a cockroach to annoy the person marking your exam 6.👩🏾‍⚖️ Gaps in your notes? No documents? Congratulations, your village people are winning. Close them before they hold a thanksgiving ceremony. 7.👩🏾‍⚖️ P.L.E.A formula. Slap yourself if you haven’t learnt how to solve legal issues using the Principle, Evidence, Law, Analysis…CLOCK IT!! 🤏🏾 8.👩🏾‍⚖️ You don’t have to write the law as is in the statute. Summarize it like the skirt I want to wear for Detty December; short enough to grab attention as a baddie, long enough to cover the essentials. 9.👩🏾‍⚖️ Avoid the demons of photocopied notes. Your village people are laughing at you again you fool. 10.👩🏾‍⚖️ Leaked exams? Lies from the pit of academic hell. There will be a lot of witchcraft in the name of leaked exams prior to the exam. The devil is a liar. In that parking lot, in WhatsApp groups and even in your hostels, you’ll study for the bar again next year I assure you sweetie. 11.👩🏾‍⚖️ Printery fraud. You see those cases/statutes that the neighboring photocopiers print in bulk before an exam? Knock your head and say “I’m a business man’s biggest fool” Don’t buy it! 12.👩🏾‍⚖️ Phones in the exam. The need to carry a phone/any other examination contraband, remember there’s a police station right at the LDC gate you dummy! You’re literally checked by Counter Terrorism Police before every exam. Don’t be too stupid to turn your bar exam into a criminal record my friend! 13.👩🏾‍⚖️ Dress appropriately for your exams. You’re a lawyer, dress in accordance with the rules governing the Bar Course. But if you prefer to be sent away, you can try doing otherwise. You’re boujie. Right? 14.👩🏾‍⚖️ Face your paper. The devil will tempt you to ask your neighbor which document you’re supposed to draft, I hope you get caught moving that big mouth with a wrong document moreover. 15.👩🏾‍⚖️ ”Get some rest.” No, they’re lying. You’ll rest after passing the Bar. If you want to rest, please do. There’s another intake next year waiting for you. Sorry, in 2027.😘 16.👩🏾‍⚖️ PRAY!! A wise man once said “The Bar course is like a lion hunt” Do you remember Daniel in the Lion’s Den? Go and ask Daniel if God will bring you out incase you think I’m lying.
