People think they need more frequent and exciting sex because they've been told that by the culture/porn. Real, simple, genuine intimacy is beautiful and fulfilling by it's nature.

I was a teenager in the 90's. You know all those chastity lessons people complain about now? I had them too. And I'm so grateful. I learned that sex is sacred and that my body is a temple. I learned to respect myself and others, in my dress and behavior. I learned the importance of staying morally clean and avoiding the pain of sin. | learned that I'm God's precious daughter with a divine nature and eternal destiny. | learned that the atonement of Jesus Christ removes the spiritual consequences of sin, but the temporal consequences cannot always be undone. Vilifying purity culture didn't make people sin less, it made people more comfortable with sin. There is an enemy, but it's not the one encouraging you to be chaste.

But that only logically works because He didn't create us from nothing. Please explain how you think not a single child is "lost" under Calvinism. No eternal hell? Is it actually universalist?

I’d say you have a far larger philosophical problem to wrestle with than I do. Under Calvinism, God loses none of His children. In LDS thought he loses over 1/3.

People keep telling me I have misrepresented Calvinism. Please let me know what specifically I misrepresented?

@ThatGoldenChain @PaoloGerrini @ThoughtfulSaint I think the difference is you would say God created us from nothing, which I would say made it His choice to create people in a way that explicitly leads them away from Him. LDS belief is that our intelligence was not created by God, thus God is not responsible for our choices.

You and I both believe that God took specific actions to form people who would ultimately perish. Unless you’re going to go the route of the open theist heresy your criticism means nothing.

If we're created from nothing, however, then God chose to make some of us in such a way that we couldn't reach heaven.

@ThatGoldenChain @PaoloGerrini @ThoughtfulSaint I don't agree with that conclusion. LDS theology is that our essences always existed, freedom to choose is essential, and we opted-in to life on Earth. Open theism or not, our choices aren't on God, as he didn't force us into creation. Hence the 1/3 that chose not to follow God.

The lost 1/3 is tragic, but because their essence is eternal, it was not God that caused them to choose that. It was their own choice.

@PaoloGerrini @ThoughtfulSaint God is not entitled to save all of His enemies and it’s weird to place that on Him. Besides, your god losing over 1/3 of his children to outer darkness is a far bigger philosophical problem than anything you can bring against Calvinism.

But a real relationship is about how you care about and work with each other. If you can't discuss and compromise on the handling of sex, or other needs, that's the real problem.

As I said, sex is only one part of the marriage equation. Communication, trust, and compromise are the most important.

If you can't talk openly or compromise for each other, you shouldn't be getting married. Marriage is about more than sex.

Too many people focus on sexual compatibility like it's this unique and unchangeable thing. Just like all parts of a healthy relationship, both people work together and compromise to make it the best it can be.
