@1800ghostman He writes his clever post from a smartphone filled with shit mined out of the global south and posts it on Twitter. Ah he thinks. This will really change the minds of the petit bourgeois.

Well, I think I just gained a lot of sympathy for the Alberta Separatist movement. And I've been consistently saying for 10 years that it would be unwise, given the reality of being a landlocked state whose economy depends on agriculture and resource extraction. Don't get me wrong. I've compared a lot of individual Canadians to rats, especially in Ottawa. But when government propaganda uses broad strokes to paint its own citizens as rats, is it even appropriate to call Canada a nation anymore? This is Radio Rwanda shit.

all the punching down on the east end of toronto is so cringe to me cause like… sure the west is cool aka gentrified etc etc. look into why the west side of EVERY city is nicer than the east and then we’ll talk.

@anup_malani In his book he enumerated many examples of how this trend is reversed, you give several, another major one is that capital owners die and their relatives fritter away the capital. The fact that there are ways to reverse capital accumulation is the actual point. It's not some law.

The deeper problem: Piketty commits Marx’s error. Both propose general laws that grind forward regardless of who holds power. Acemoglu & Robinson’s counter: inequality is political, not mechanical. Institutions, coalitions, and bargaining — not formulas — determine who gets what.

@AnimarchyYT An embargo isn't a blockade and other countries beyond the us also embargoed Japan, why would they sustain an economy that was invading it's neighbours and would then threaten others? It's asinine to expect the us to just let that happen.

@AlexAlmeida2020 Itll take months to stand up a force that could actually force itself into the AO, mid-april for just a nucleus of a force is too late. this needs resolution in days. And what's the end game, an american enclave clinging to the cliffs of Hormuz forever being harassed?

CENTCOM has been running with the "their combat power is declining, our's is still decreasing" line and there's a good reason for that. Run the numbers and even in attritional terms there's only one way this ends, even if it comes down to a knife fight over Hormuz.

@dexterbrian_ @unusual_whales Conventional tipped ICBMs/hypersonic are immensely costly with none of the deterrence. Compared to a few dozen f-35 with the equivalent of a b-61 strapped to them you get way more bang for your buck. a b-61 is like 20 million vs 200 million for an ICBM

@unusual_whales Poland having a nuclear warhead is not a problem, But I guess they don't have a budget to maintain the nuclear weapons, They should rather focus on ICBM and Hypersonic missiles

BTW one thing this article convincingly proves is that the February Oval meeting with Zelensky was not an ambush. As reported, the White House was hoping for a productive meeting and Zelenksy ignored pre-meeting advice from high level people close to the administration to avoid doing exactly what he did. And Trump was even willing to do the deal EVEN AFTER the big blow up, but Waltz talked him out of it. So everyone who jumped up and down on me for pointing this out at the time can now observe how poorly their certainty aged.
Ryan Evans@EvansRyan202

Reading this deeply reported article by Adam Entous on the US approach to Ukraine and Russia was painful for me as an American. I will provide some of my thoughts later on here. This is probably the most important piece of journalism in 2025 on foreign policy. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

The basic problem with US national security policy is that its based on lies. China is not a national security threat to the United States, and if you create your national security strategy to deal with a non-existent threat, then everything else is going to be fake.

Lots of Flights tonight by the Russian Special Flight Squadron (RSD), which is Responsible for the VIP Transport of Senior Russian Government and Military Officials. These kind of Flights have been seen before, usually prior to Major Missile and Drones Strike on Ukraine.
