I've wanted to make a tool like this for a while, but haven't had the time until now. :) Earth and farside views of activity this week, with a direct comparison between helioseismic inversions from jsoc.stanford.edu/data/farside/ & EUV images from @EuiTelescope on @ESASolarOrbiter. 🔥

Photobombed by Luna 🌚 A partial solar eclipse was recorded from space by the Solar Dynamics Observatory, in a geosynchronous orbit around Earth 🛰 The moon swept past the solar disc from NW to SE, and also note the minor flare (C6.9) from AR 13312 (SE limb) after the passage! ☀️

Nice eruption from the latest X2.0 flare. Compare this with yesterday's M3.8 flare from the same region (AR 13234).

X-CLASS FLARE! AR 13234 has just produced an X2.0 flare, which looks eruptive. But the region is already so close to the NW limb that the CME may not be Earth-bound.

The large AR 12887 did not let us down, as it released an X1.0 flare with related coronal mass ejection (CME) just as it was crossing the central meridian of the Earth-facing Sun. Expect increased solar energetic particle (SEP) fluxes and a CME that might be coming our way ☀️💥
