The other day, @JeremyDBoreing had an episode where he explained @TuckerCarlson’s tactics. One of them was Epistemic Closure in which Tucker signals that a question has been settled (to convince the audience) when it hasn’t. He uses phrases like “this is well known” (as he did in this clip)…and then he can’t support it. Watch him set up his claim as if it’s common knowledge and then not be able to provide a single example: Tucker: “JD is subject to…this is well known…NONSTOP treachery from ppl on the neoconservative side around Marco Rubio.” Lulu: “Who do you mean specifically?” Tucker: “You know…I don’t know is the real answer…They were so mad about JD getting that job.” Lulu: “They- who’s they?” Tucker: “You know, I don’t know the answer to that. I’ve never worked there.”

1. What needs to be kept in mind when viewing films like “Citizen Kane,” “Gone With The Wind,” or “The Birth of a Nation” is that once they broke the old molds, everything that came afterward imitated them, and made them seem in retrospect to be de rigeur. 2. I was completely underwhelmed by “RKO 281.” From the reviews I figured it would show me something I hadn’t already learned about Welles or “Kane,”but IMHO it was a Cliffs Notes script over-dramatically performed.

It's not even Welles' best film; both Touch of Evil and The Third Man were better films. The movie about the making of Citizen Kane, RKO 281, was more entertaining. It's actually very good.

No Shawshank Redemption, either. Going though the @Telegraph's "50 Greatest Movies" list feels a lot like Andy Dufresne's escape.
