When I was in high school, I was in special ed for behavioral problems. I was included in the planning of the accommodations, and it was basically a grab bag of “do you think this would help? Or this?” The main one I remember was being granted the ability to leave the room if I felt I was going to make a bad decision. I fervently told them how much this would help. Then I proceeded to leave the classroom multiple times almost every day. Incentives matter.
