I miss Twitter… You’d open the app and instantly know what was happening in the world. No fluff, no weird sorting, just real time thoughts from real people. It felt raw, and that was the whole point. Over the years they chipped away at that. First the timeline stopped being chronological. Then everything turned into a fight for engagement. The best posts didn’t win anymore, the loudest ones did. Verification getting sold off was the turning point. That used to mean something. Now it’s just noise. Anyone can look legit, which means nobody really is. And if you’re actually trying to build something on there, good luck. Shadowbans, random reach drops, mass reporting… there’s zero consistency. One day you’re growing, next day you’re invisible. The rebrand to X just made it worse. Feels like they threw away everything people actually cared about and replaced it with… nothing. It’s still usable, but it’s not the same. It went from a place where things happened first to a place where everything feels filtered, forced, and a little fake.

🔸To all residents of Harare, Please note that the public hearings will be conducted at 2pm today at the City Sports Centre. Let’s show up in our numbers and make our views known. This Bill is bad because: ❌It extends term of the President from 5 years to 7 years. This is bad because it makes it harder to remove a bad president and is open to abuse given the extensive power a president holds under our Constitution. ❌It takes away your right to vote for the President and gives this power to Parliament. ❌It gives Mr Mnangagwa an extra two years to rule without an election. ❌It takes away ZEC’s power to draw election boundaries and returns the power to the Registrar General who has used this power to rig elections in the past. ❌It removes the army’s constitutional duty to uphold the Constitution. ❌It destroys the Gender Commission. We need new leaders.🇿🇼 #REPOST

When you find time read the 2024 Nobel Prize for Economics winning thesis “Why nations fail” by Daron Acemoglu, Simon Johnson and James A. Robinson. They posited that nations fail when a small elite designs systems to extract wealth and power, instead of creating conditions where everyone can participate and benefit.

As someone who has spent so much time defending the Zimbabwean government, protecting the image of the nation, and fighting sanctions imposed by the West, it's disappointing to see the image of the nation being trashed due to arbitrary arrests of opposition members who are merely debating a constitutional amendment that ZANU PF itself brought to the public for mandatory debate. How can a few people tarnish the image of the entire nation just because they want to stop people debating a law that they proposed on their own, knowing that our constitution mandates the debating of the same law that they want? Why propose a bill if you can’t adhere to what is required to pass it? Why did ZANU PF give us this constitution if it doesn’t want to adhere to it?
