There are a lot of fair criticisms of how the Trump administration is prosecuting their illegal immigration crack down (e.g. moving from violent criminals to “mom & pop”). But @bungarsargon’s points below are just as relevant.
Batya Ungar-Sargon@bungarsargon

To say ICE has never behaved this way before without acknowledging they never faced this level of obstruction and violent resistance before is dishonest. To say it's Trump who politicized ICE when the Democrats call them Nazis and the Gestapo every day is ludicrous.

I’m a “Ben Shapiro conservative.” I accept that I’m part of a dying generation of conservatives, and I lament it because I know what’s rising in its stead. It’s a radical and revolutionary reactionary force that you helped create through years of demonizing and dispossessing white men. From making them scared and desperate. From trying—and often succeeding—in destroying the most milquetoast of conservatives for daring to question your Woke orthodoxy. I was one of those casualties. It cost me everything as a teacher and I’m still a pariah amongst the Leftist ideologues that run our schools—unemployable in public education. I have every reason to hate people like you—and perhaps if I possessed a different temperament I’d be part of the new revolutionary Right. But I’m not, because I know that the polemic wars of the far Left against the new far Right will do to this country that I love. And I should warn you against reveling in Ben’s diminishing audience, because what is replacing it frightens me, and it should utterly terrify you. You’re going to reap what you sowed, and one day, you’ll pray for the return of conservatives like Ben,
New York Magazine@NYMag

There was a time, not very long ago, when Ben Shapiro could reasonably call himself the king of all conservative media. That’s all over now, writes political columnist Ross Barkan. Shapiro’s company, ‘The Daily Wire,’ is instituting significant layoffs. Its YouTube channel’s subscriber base is starting to shrink, and its website has emerged as one of the great traffic losers in conservative media. There are ‘Daily Wire’ YouTube videos that now, after a few days online, have less than 10,000 views, a catastrophically small number for a channel with more than 3 million subscribers. The top comments all mock the low view counts. “If a variety of poor business decisions can be blamed, in part, for the ‘Daily Wire’’s fall from grace — ill-fated investments in feature films, an epic fantasy series, and peculiar merchandise — the greater story is the collapse of Shapiro’s constituency,” writes Barkan. “There are two realities to Shapiro conservatism in 2026: It retains a significant foothold among Republican elites, and it is fast being rejected by the future grassroots of the party.” Read more: nymag.visitlink.me/KtpIKV

This is misleading. Yes, the DOJ announced charges — but those are allegations in an indictment, not proven facts. Saying SPLC “funneled money to extremist groups” like it’s confirmed is inaccurate. That still has to be proven in court, and SPLC has already denied the claims. Big difference between being accused and being guilty.

🚨BREAKING: DOJ charges the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) with wire fraud, false statements, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. The SPLC secretly funneled $3M+ in donor funds to violent racist extremist groups: -Ku Klux Klan -American Nazi Party -Aryan Nation -United Klans of America -Unite the Right -National Alliance -National Socialist Movement -Sadistic Souls Motorcycle Club -American Front To hide the payments, SPLC allegedly opened bank accounts under fictitious entities to conceal the source and control of donor funds. Per the indictment: an SPLC field source was a member of the online leadership chat group that planned the 2017 "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville — made racist postings under SPLC supervision and helped coordinate transportation to the event. FBI Director Kash Patel: "They lied to their donors, vowing to dismantle violent extremist groups, and actually turned around and paid the leaders of these very extremist groups — even utilizing the funds to have these groups facilitate the commission of state and federal crimes." Acting AG Todd Blanche: "The SPLC is manufacturing racism to justify its existence. Using donor money to allegedly profit off Klansmen cannot go unchecked." Scheme allegedly ran 2014–2023. FBI calls it an ongoing investigation. Insane!!!

Rahm Emanuel throws Democrats under the bus for three minutes straight—then casually walks off with a sip of coffee. Watch this guy closely. He clearly wants to be president. “The Democratic Party… invited a bunch of culture wars into our kids’ schools, and we lost that war.” “Up in San Francisco, [Democrats] were arguing and voted to take Abraham Lincoln’s name off of a high school. Not whether they were worried about whether the kids knew why Abraham Lincoln was such an icon, and the school was named after him. They lost the plot.” “The American people… want us to show up and help them. Not argue about Latinx as a term. Not argue about defunding the police… or letting the border get out of control.” “We actually have to show respect for the American people, their primary concerns, and help them.” “Went down to Mississippi. They went from 49th to 9th in reading. A lot of interest groups don’t want to talk about it. We messed this up in our party.” “We used to be really great about education. We’ve lost it… We’re worried about names of schools, bathrooms, locker room access. Get back to what matters.” “Why do parents move to a neighborhood? Because that’s a good school for their kid. If you focus on that, guess what? People are going to support you. If you don’t focus on it, they’re going to walk away from you.” [Sips coffee while the audience applauds]

California is trying to pass a bill that would criminalize investigative journalism with misdemeanors, $10,000 fines, imprisonment, and content takedown. The proposed bill is titled AB 2624 and was made after I exposed mass fraud by immigrant groups in America. Under AB 2624, government-funded entities like the Somali “Learing” Daycare centers would be protected from being exposed if they operated inside California. The enemy truly is within. When our politicians would rather protect fraudsters and illegal migrants, it’s time for us to stand up or face mass oppression from the traitors who “rule” over us.

I want you to understand just how dangerous this rant by Tucker is for the Trump administration According to Tucker's worldview Trump is not only a menace to Christianity, but also to the world. And we've become so used to Tucker's rhetoric that we might skip over this...it's the classic boiling frog analogy of how ideological creep normalizes the insane Because that's what he has become: increasingly unhinged and conspiratorial for a while now. He's posting 9/11 truther documentaries...talking about demons and witchcraft...promoting people like Candace Owens, Nick Fuentes and Aleksandr Dugin So here is where I sound the alarm because this is a 5-alarm fire: Tucker Carlson has far too much influence within the current administration. Whatever he is saying now, you can be sure he has been saying privately for years This means that the vice president, who has refused to come out and distance himself from Tucker, actually shares some of these views. I mean, it wasn't that long ago that JD Vance was praising Douglas Macgregor (Tucker's favorite Kremlin geopolitical stooge) on X for his "consistent, insightful contrarian voice on the war in Ukraine" This means that Tucker's son, who works as Deputy Press Secretary for Vance, is possibly siphoning everything within the administration to his father And we don't even know how much further this goes because if Tucker was able to push his Manchurian candidate into position to be VP, there are definitely such people all over the administration. Joe Kent was just one example of these useful idiots...but there are clearly more This is a compromised administration (just like 45 was but from a different angle) and Trump needs to take note of this and clean house immediately. These people are out there leaking and trying to undermine his wartime objectives and agenda...so what I'm saying is that this has now become a serious issue We're going to look back on this and wonder why we did nothing while the frog was boiling And maybe, just maybe, a real reporter out there would go so far as to confront JD Vance about this troubling association/history with Tucker!? Does he share his mentor's worldview? And why on earth has he not distanced himself from this unhinged lunatic?
Ryan Saavedra@RyanSaavedra

🚨 Tucker Carlson insinuates that President Trump might be the Antichrist: "Is it possible that what you're watching is a very stealthy, yet incredibly effective attack on what, from a Christian perspective, is the true faith, belief in Jesus? ... And is it possible that the president sees this not just in geostrategic terms and military terms and economic terms ... Is it possible the president sees this in bigger terms? Sees this as the fulfillment of something, or the elevation to some higher office beyond President of the United States? That's entirely possible."

Except - re:your (2) - we are ultimately responsible for any downstream effects of our unilateral actions. And that’s true no matter how are some may stomp their foot and say otherwise. I am 100% in support of the current conflict, but make no mistake: if we leave the world in a worse position (by leaving the Strait closed) it only weakens America and our standing. And Trump’s incessant whining about Europe doesn’t change that. Put it another way: we started this, we need to finish it…. And we broke it we bought it. And it’s time to take responsibility for our actions.

Something doesn’t add up… Before the war started, everyone I spoke to agreed the U.S. Navy (which is more capable than the rest of the world combined) CANNOT open the Strait of Hormuz militarily And everyone also confirmed what Iran warned: They will and can close the Strait of Hormuz if attacked Both pro-U.S. and pro-Iran analysts and military veterans agreed on both points So why the hell did Trump, who SHOULD have access to the world’s most capable intelligence and most experienced advisors, decide to enter this war? What am I missing??

Two things: -If Iran closes the strait, essentially mining it completely, they cannot use it either, and the damage to everyone, but mostly Iran, would be catastrophic. -Trump wants the strait partially or fully closed, at least temporarily. Closing the strait accelerates the crisis currently happening in China

@AMSchindler1983 @brubarian @MsMelChen The AEI report explicitly adjusts incomes using the PCEPI (Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index), not the CPI (Consumer Price Index for Urban Consumers). PCEPI is the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation measure for policy (they target ~2% PCE inflation, not CPI).
