@DBashIdeas @rawdimyon It's no coincidence that the Raavad uses such a concept, of a meta-halachic notion - when speaking about kedushas ha'Mikdash.
This is an exception that proves the rule!

@shnayor was thinking of this this morning. To be able to live in the place of paradox is to truly begin living.

Mindlessly opening Instagram is not your fault.
It is, however, your problem.
I open it to check a client post and wake up 20 minutes later watching a stranger's morning routine. Every time. Even knowing exactly how it works.
That's not an accident. Every pixel of that app was designed to do exactly that.
So I added one layer of defense. An app called OneSec. It stops me before I get in. Asks me to wait. Asks me why I'm there. Starts a timer once I'm inside.
Just enough friction to remind me I made a choice.
I run a social media agency. If I need that reminder, so do you.

When Menachem Mendel of Kotzk was a young boy, he began to develop a reputation for being a prodigy with a sharp wit. One of the townspeople thought he might trip him up with a sly question. "Mendel," he said, "I will give you a gold coin if you can show me where God is." Young Mendel, not even looking up from his studies, responded, "And I will give you two if you tell me where He is not."
