Parenting an adopted child is so hard. Lots of people say “all kids do that” but it’s just not true. Every moment of every day is about thinking how they’ll react. Today has been awful, including him trying to cause more damage to my broken finger. I’m exhausted #adoptionjourney

Can someone recommend a great sci fi or fantasy series I haven't read? I like Mieville, Gaiman, Le Guin plus all the other obvious ones.

@benniekara @creativeHigg Have you watched the Octopus episode of Bluey yet? It acknowledges the real world parenting guilt Banjo inspires! Definitely worth a watch. Also love putting the pool or the dump episodes on when I need to explain to the kids why I’m busy getting ready / tidying up!

My challenge right now is to make random comments that sound vaguely relevant to whatever the heck is happening.

@emma_au_soleil Other key vocabulary/ questions to drop in could be: painting in subassembly, two things painters love going on about are zenithal priming and a technique called slapchop, and how the players feel about the streamlining of rules in 10th edition

@WomenEd School amazingly supportive, lots of leave to go to meetings and worked flexibly for a year to create space for it. Still have cover to attend meetings. Would say that the UEA introductions model is an absolute killer in terms of work/life balance 1/2

@3dancingfeet @nr_inthesilence As the child of an academic, I can attest sick days when I got to go to uni with my dad were the best sick days ever!

@nr_inthesilence My 3 and 4 year old grew up at the university where I worked. All the staff knew them. Whenever they were a little bit sick I would bring them with me. Sometimes I think they feigned illness just to be at uni with mummy ☺️

My headteacher has sent me a text saying it’s no problem to bring my 3 year old into school on the first week due to childcare provider opening later and that he is welcome anytime. I’m sorry, but I am going to have to make this school my forever school.

@mrwbw @JackWorthNFER Classics counts as MFL as Latin counts towards the Ebacc. DoE also running the Latin Excellence Program along similar lines to the Manderin Excellent Program. I think the target no of classics teacher is 28 (don’t quote me on that) so the teaching world is not going to be 1/2

NEW: Official ITT data from DfE reveals that not enough teachers are entering training to meet the need for future teachers 13 out of the 17 secondary subjects, plus primary, failed to meet their recruitment targets

@SPBeale @TeachersSPL @mtptproject Not a male teacher but I took 2 shortish blocks of SPL after my two weeks of partner’s leave. School (and the timetables) were amazing; my colleagues juggled mine and their classes and school were really adaptable. It was tricky but we made it work and I’m so grateful
