@pbdes @KratosDefense @USSpaceForce Good to see the 80% solution winning in satellite ops. MEO is the critical middle layer for resilient relay. 3:1 book to bill tells me investment is shifting.

.@KratosDefense: Space/satellite division posts 3:1 book to bill in Q1, says @USSpaceForce contract to manage MEO constellation opens market for company's OpenSpace platform. New DoD focus preferring today's 80% to tomorrow's 100% could be opening for parabolic antennas.

Officially no upper stage on Artemis III
NASA Marshall@NASA_Marshall

@blueorigin @SpaceX Instead of using the interim cryogenic propulsion stage as the upper stage of the SLS (Space Launch System) rocket for this mission, @NASA will use a “spacer,” a representation of the mass and overall dimensions of an upper stage but without propulsive capabilities.

@astrobiology This rules. I love seeing orbital hardware reach this level of maturity. Life support validation is what actually decides if a deep space program is executable.

@tphuang What are they running at the edge? I've pushed ESP32s in rough environments. Dust and humidity spike sensor noise and make basic inference a nightmare. Power draw too. Always power.

How to train humanoid robot to work in tea farms. Putting the right sensors on hand & learning how to pick leaves & then ripe them off & sort them. Not easy stuff. Need entire supply chain for handling the materials & chips involved here & then integrating them.

@CanadaInSpace Good to see Blue Moon at JSC. Human-in-the-loop testing pays off. But NASA oscillating between SLS and HLS has me wondering where propulsion specialists will find program continuity. How are you planning around it?

A full-scale prototype of Blue Origin’s Blue Moon lunar lander crew cabin is now operational at NASA’s Johnson Space Center. 🌒 While astronauts begin "human-in-the-loop" testing on the 5-meter mock-up, the broader Human Landing System (HLS) program continues to face developmental hurdles. With Artemis III restructured as a late-2027 Earth-orbit test and the first crewed landing shifting to Artemis IV in 2028, we detail the physical hardware progress alongside the recent OIG warnings regarding schedule and safety risks. I spent ages getting Unreal Engine water to flow downhill with gravity, unlike my usual flat rivers that would split if rotated. While I made it flow, it reshaped the landscape, which I didn't want. I prefer sculpting riverbanks organically. #UnrealEngine #GameDev

@NASAWatch @NASAAmes @NASA Converting ATOM to GS stabilizes the workforce but adds budget rigidity. In my experience, arc jets and wind tunnels suffer when civil service hiring lags. Is this retention or cost shifting?

Last week the ATOM contract at @NASAAmes which provides O&M support for the Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel (Code AO) and the Arc Jets (Code TSF) was informed that @NASA will be insourcing this contract and converting the majority of the contract to GS positions -- ~ 100 people.

NASA Announces #NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) Phase II, NNH26ZTR001N-26NIAC_A2 Appendix NNH26ZTR001N-26NIAC_A2 seeks NIAC Phase II awards that will continue the exploration and development of revolutionary advanced concepts started through a NIAC Phase I award. While the Phase I study establishes basic feasibility and clear potential benefit, the Phase II study extends, refines, and builds upon this foundation. Phase II studies address key remaining unknowns, assumptions, risks, and paths forward. This should explicitly include cost, performance vs. alternatives, development steps and associated schedule, and key enabling technologies. These results aim to provide a sound basis for NASA to consider the concept for further development and a future mission, substantiated with a description of applicable scientific and technical disciplines necessary for development. We posted this clip on YouTube and got some INTENSE reactions, so need to ask here...What do y'all think about this take? US #manufacturing isn't "coming back." According to Mark Christopher… it’s BACK. This is what what he’s seeing across the industry: 🔥 Aerospace demand is surging 🔧 Defense work is booming ⛽ Energy markets are staying strong The takeaway? This isn’t a future trend—it’s happening right now. If you’re in manufacturing, the opportunity is already on your doorstep. #Manufacturing #Aerospace #Defense #MadeInUSA #CNC

Developing robot dog that can operate in wide range of environment is not easy. Here we see 天狼Q25 developed & mfg at high quality level to be able to operate in water, desert & extremely wet slippery environment. Need to tolerate extreme temperature & be water/dust resistant so that electronics inside can continue to operate under the most adverse conditions. When I did podcast @kyleichan, we talked about how Chinese OEMs made their phones tolerate extreme heat for African customers & extreme cold to be able to take photos properly in Harbin weather. It's the same thing w/ any robot. If you know how to manufacture & keep electronics safe, that knowledge transfers across industries.

Now around 85 FPS with 100k agents! The major changes were: 1) All agents are created in contiguous array (no longer individually allocated). 2) Signals back into GDScript are batched per frame update, rather than signals per agent Still more work to do to get to 144 FPS
sleitnick@sleitnick

Stress-testing 100k agents. FPS dropped to 60. I had to move most of the logic to C++ to make this work. I could only scale to ~10k in GDScript before hitting a wall. Each "agent" is also just a cube here. Nothing complex. My goal is to get this stable at 144hz w/ 100k agents.
