
Well... Texas certainly needs to revisit its gun policy.
Court records noted in the post confirm he was "under juvenile suspension for multiple previous charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon." He still legally possessed the handgun because the juvenile system treated him as a delinquent, not a convicted felon.
This absolutely needs to be revisited. Juvies that commit assault with a deadly weapon should be treated as adults in regards to gun ownership.
Had he committed his crimes at age 18 instead of 16 or 17, he would not have been able to legally own a gun.
Thanks for pointing this out. I will be contacting my State rep and ask him to propose changes to current law.
