Less than 24 hours after the meeting between Trump and Netanyahu, Israel suspends most international humanitarian organisations working in Gaza. Independent Humanitarian Aid is ending. Israel’s genocide continues. apnews.com/article/gaza-h…

Battery pack storage costs for WindWaterSolar are dropping so low that they eliminate the argument for using fossil fuels or nuclear moving forward. Battery pack prices for stationary storage now down to $70/kWh in 2025, a 45% decrease in just one year. ess-news.com/2025/12/09/bne…

Trump in press conference with Netanyahu now on third minute going off on a rant about Powell cost overrun (sic) on the new Fed Reserve building. Scary.

The United States remains the most generous nation in the world for lifesaving humanitarian assistance—but under @POTUS’s leadership taxpayer dollars will never fund waste, anti-Americanism, or inefficiency. Today, the @StateDept and United Nations signed an agreement that radically reforms the way the U.S. programs, funds, and oversees UN-administered humanitarian work, ensuring that more lives will be saved for fewer U.S. taxpayer dollars. This new model will better share the burden of UN humanitarian work with other developed countries and will require the UN to cut bloat, remove duplication, and commit to powerful new impact, accountability and oversight mechanisms.

Funny to think that two things are true: 1. Academic jobs more difficult than ever to get 2. Independent scholars get much less respect than formerly
Jason L.A. West@jwest_edm

@natt941 @zenahitz @getty_a96716 @ArgonGruber It used to be much more common. But I think it is largely impossible to do serious scholarship and be taken seriously without those preliminaries these days.

I don't think attacking the Russian oil industry-the working engine of russia's war machine, is the same as burying 4-year-old girls under the rubble of their homes before Christmas, or plunging a city of a million people into cold and darkness in the dead of winter.
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Q: Some are saying that Russia's recent attacks on Ukraine show Putin isn't serious about peace TRUMP: I believe Ukraine has made some very strong attacks also. I don't say that negatively. You probably have to. There have been explosions in various parts of Russia. I don't think it came from the Congo. I don't think it came from the USA.

@saramfoster He had a hit list of 70 other politicians, including Walz and abortion providers in the North Star State, and flyers for the “No Kings” anti-Trump rallies scheduled the same day as the killings. He told The Post after a long pause that he supported Trump. But nice try.

@ThiefPenitent @JonathanRoseT11 @daviddunn177 My question was whether you have called out Trump for attacking judges. Did you? Also, do you distinguish between pointing out the effect of a decision, and, say, this: "I’ve been treated very unfairly by this judge. Now, this judge is of Mexican heritage, I’m building a wall!”

Connect the dots. MAGA is pulling out all the stops to intimidate Judge Boasberg for looking into Bove contempt of court, which should disqualify him. Two Trump judges delayed the contempt hearing long enough for Bove to get confirmed by obsequious Senate.

Not sure how 'radically new' this anyway. Historians have been doing the history of the emotions for at least 30 years on the assumption that emotions have a history, like everything else.
carl beijer@_carlbeijer

As Wittgenstein pointed out, this kind of argument cannot distinguish between "humans experiencing the world differently" and "humans experiencing the world identically but talking about that experience in different ways." Philosophically bankrupt argument.
