Truly impressive how many hard-tech founders started their career at either Tesla or SpaceX. Beyond selection effects of who wanted to work there and who got offers, there must be cultural component as well. (Also seems like it's easier to raise $ if one of those is on your CV.)

Trump is the only human being in the United States of America who can "land the plane" on US-China rivalry.
What's the counter take to that? I don't think there is one.
Basically, this is the "only Nixon could go to China" adage, but updated for the 21st century.

@briangobosox Iran runs a trade deficit vs China despite exporting a lot of oil to China... ofc China has leverage over Iran; the entire manufacturing and thus military capacity of Iran runs on Chinese industrial inputs

China has 100% leverage over Iran. If Iran doesn’t get sanctions relief, then China is their only source of cash on the planet. Meaning that without Chinese backing, Iran has zero bargaining leverage.

The US eagerly wants an Iran deal before the Trump-Xi summit. China eagerly wants a deal too in order to keep the focus on making progress on US-China trade relations not to mention the energy cost pressure. The two geopolitical rivals are aligned on the issue. Unclear how much leverage China really has over Iran, but I imagine whatever it has it’s being used.

@JacobShap GLP1 drugs are likely going to be part of an arsenal of drugs chronically given to large swaths of the normal population ti slow down the detrimental effects of aging. Same as for gliflozins or ARBs
