What does gentleness look like in the life of a Leader when someone disagrees with them? They refuse to attempt to get their way by using force, manipulation, anger, passive aggressiveness, relentless argumentation, scheming, revenge, or demonizing another's character.

@pj_schreiner If the "fallen angels" having intimate relations with women in Gen 6 is correct, what keeps demons from attacking women today? You may be right, and I give to collective wisdom of you, John Gerstner and Heisler, but I have never heard a satisfactory answer to this question.

I held the "fallen angels" view of Genesis 6 long before I read Heiser and I'm still most persuaded by this interpretation.

Just had 15kw of battery storage connected to my home solar system. Running on battery at night. We officially use no power from the grid day or night.

LOL. I'm working through 2 Thess 3:6-15 and just read this footnote from Gordon Fee on 3:10 ('If anyone is unwilling to work, neither shall that person eat"): ➡️As an English-first language Asian student put it in an exam many years ago, the motto simply put is: "no workee, no eatee" 🤣

My cousin's wife and daughter have asked me to design and build a "catio" so their two indoor cats can get some outside time. My life has reached peak stupid.

Just think. When Christ’s kingdom fully comes, we’ll have all sorts of creatures just laying around the yard. Like a giraffe or even a rhino or I’d like to request a baby elephant and, well, a lion and a lamb and what all.

1) there is a Greek word for cousins and it’s not used. And while the term could hypothetically refer to other relatives, its literal meaning is brothers. And it makes a lot more sense why Mary’s other sons would be mentioned along with her and Joseph, and not some random cousins when the people ask, “Is not this the carpenter 's son? Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?” in Matt 13. 2) Matt 1 says “But he [Joseph] had no union with her [Mary] until she gave birth to a son.” UNTIL. 2)

When it comes to the perpetual virginity of Mary, do you agree with the Catholic view or with the view of Protestant reformers Martin Luther, Ulrich Zwingli, and John Wesley?

Dogs won’t be in heaven. Who’s pooper scooping for all eternity? Doesn’t sound like heaven to me. Cats on the other hand. Cleaning after themselves is a heaven thing.

If you are a female in a church and you receive private texts messages or DM’s from your married pastor, that dude shouldn’t be a pastor. Full stop. Give me all the caveats in the world on this one, but that dude is either a creeper OR he is immature and needs a mentor quick.

I think that's in play for a lot of them. It can be economics: they may hate what their husbands are doing, but if they blow the whistle, their whole world comes crashing down: they're out of their house, income, and possibly out of their church. So the incentive to go along and get along can be high. It's frustrating, because while I can empathize with their issues, the fact remains: their silence means victims get screwed. I have seen two cases firsthand, however, where the pastor's wife had no idea.

Show me a horrifying scandal involving a leader in the church bringing shame on the name of Jesus And 9 times out of 10 I will show you standing next to him is an enabling wife who believed her job was to be silent & compliant Rather than a truth-speaking woman of God.

@TylerLeeConway To clarify, if a politician's empathy toward youth with gender dysphoria leads them to introduce legislation to allow youth to undergo gender reassignment, you would say that is not the 'sin of empathy,' but enmeshment?

One other thing about the dumb “toxic empathy” argument is this. Allie’s framing boils down to “this virtue can lead to something bad, and when it does, it’s toxic empathy.” But Aristotelian Virtue Ethics understands that virtue is the mean between excess and deficiency.
