The Nagy Lab would like to welcome our newest post-doctoral fellow Dr. Xiaoyan Wei (@Xiao_yan_Wei) who arrived in FL in November coming from Germany at the @MPI_MolGen and @fubcp where she received her PhD.

@LaszloNagyLab has a new review out in @FrontEndocrinol from @ZCzimmerer and @HalaszLaszlo, where we give an overview for the recent advances in the understanding of the lipid-activated nuclear receptor-mediated non-classical actions in macrophages.

Dr. Laszlo Nagy & his team (@LaszloNagyLab) set out to discover how the body signals macrophages, white blood cells that play a key role in defending against disease. One significant discovery was published in the Nov. 2020 edition of @GenesDev: bit.ly/34Z3pry

A big congratulations to our post-doc @anpatsalos for winning the award for Best Abstract for his work investigating GDF15's role in skeletal muscle regeneration, at the 9th Annual Research Symposium at @AllChildrens. Great job!!!

Questions: 1. Is there a role for EGR2 in lung-resident macrophages or in pathological conditions (helminth infection, allergies, asthma etc.), where Th2-type inflammation is dominant? 3. Does EGR2 control human alternative macrophage polarization? Mechanism of repression? 11/n

Yes. Both Th2-type cytokines (IL-4 and IL-13) induce EGR2 in human CD14+ monocyte-derived differentiating macrophages. Moreover, EGR2 expression marks lung-resident macrophage subsets of different species (human, mouse, rat and pig). 10/n
