It's genuinely not safe to use Xbox, OneDrive, etc, to store your data. I've been tracking reports for over a year now. Users who lose access to their accounts have NO RECOURSE to fix them. Microsoft Support is absolutely abysmal. It will catch regulators' eyes eventually.

@Detective_Roo @Quimper You need to do more research. Playstation doesn’t qualify for the EU's Digital Markets Act. European Commission has intentionally avoided classifying traditional gaming consoles as gatekeepers due to subsidization. It also doesn’t reach required domestic monthly users (45 mil).

@Quimper I don't think it's possible for the government to give you the pony you want, but a more realistic thing they can do is force Sony to open its ecosystem, just like they forced Apple to do.

Sony wants to get rid of physical media so the PSN Store becomes the only option, but that could backfire because governments could get involved and force Sony to open up PlayStation to third-party digital stores to promote competition.

@VRResidence @xMBGx It’s always a balance. And always an”if” until it’s revealed. The fact is Sony does have a 2024 patent that can allow native perfect backwards compatibility on an emulation.

@LazyKeyboard @xMBGx Yea if and by the sounds of it, Sony is going to pedal you repurchasing shit instead of backwards compatibility as it makes them no money. I know it’s not Sony directly but they will look at things like black ops 1 & 2 and likely follow that model. Why be consumer friendly 🙄

I know we still have time but as it stands right now, I think the PS6 might genuinely be cooked. Between the digital only backlash, it likely being double the price of any previous PS console & the diminishing returns on graphics. Just seems like the perfect storm to me.

@xMBGx Bro. We know nothing about PS6 besides specs. If the PS6 offers native PS1-3 emulation with an optional disc drive. We would be singing a different tune.

@mooreslawisdead They have been divesting low margin sections for a while. It’s more likely they’ll invest in more MLAs production capacity for Cars/Robotics/Phones/Data Centers. Maybe they could license a 3rd party for Blue Ray production.

Question: If PlayStation goes all digital and the only way you can buy games is through their closed storefront/ecosystem... wouldn't it just make sense for gamers to seriously consider Steam at that point since it has much better customer service and support?

Apparently, Ubisoft Connect is down for hundreds of gamers right now. People are having trouble trying to pla Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, a single-player game. Another reason why an online requirement in single-player games is a terrible idea.
