Eighty-three years ago, on the morning of December 7, 1941, the Empire of Japan launched an unprovoked attack on U.S. Forces at Pearl Harbor, which resulted in the loss of over 2,400 American lives, leading to America’s full entry into World War II.
While Imperial Japan won the battle that day, it immediately united the American people to pursue absolute victory over the Axis powers. In six months, the U.S. Pacific fleet turned the tide of the war at the Battle of Midway in June of 1942. For the following three years, U.S. Forces fought their way to victory over the Japanese Empire, leading to the Empire’s ultimate surrender on the deck of the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945.
We honor and remember the sacrifices made on that day and beyond.
