One of 4.6 million and snowballing!

Eight years on from the Grenfell Tower tragedy we remember the 72 people who lost their lives and keep in our thoughts those who lost loved ones, the survivors and immediate community. We must ensure what happened at Grenfell Tower is never forgotten and never happens again.

"The Grenfell tragedy was four years and three Queen's Speeches ago yet thousands of people are still trapped in unsafe buildings" Labour leader Keir Starmer says "no excuse" for PM's inaction on cladding, which should have been in #QueensSpeech bbc.in/33zo5oM

❗In its manifesto @UKLabour pledged to “take decisive action to improve building safety” and “put a renewed focus on ensuring those responsible for the building safety crisis pay to put it right”. ❌ Now @angelarayner chooses to protect developers 👇 thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

Today we’re announcing £2 billion of new funding to support the biggest boost in social and affordable housing in a generation. Everyone deserves to have a safe and secure place to call home - this government is working to make that a reality.

The security and safety of a home remains out of reach for so many families. We’re tackling the housing crisis head on – for everyone who needs a safe home. Our Plan for Change will drive up living standards and build 1.5 million homes. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…

Great to meet @LincolnshireLRF last week with @AlexJJNorris. Impressed to see how the LRF Innovation Fund is driving projects that boost public preparedness and resilience. I also visited Waddington Fire & Rescue Training Centre, where teams master crisis response skills.

Starmer’s lawyer mates aren’t just involved in the surrender of the Chagos. They’re also working to frustrate leasehold reforms for 5 million people. Even Labour MPs are warning of the ‘chilling effect’ that Lord Hermer is having.

Massive thanks to @lewis_goodall @LBC for shining a light on toxic leasehold and the political story behind it. If people care about unleashing growth, boosting homeownership and tackling the cost of living, they need to get behind the movement!
