@MorePerfectUS lol let's talk turning points when labor leaders become abolitionists and abandon contract unionism. contracts legitimize the authority and ownership of bosses. contracts aren't subversive.

UAW president Shawn Fain says this is "a turning point in the class war that's been raging in this country for the past 40 years." He labeled the union's tentative deal with Ford "a call to action to workers everywhere to organize and fight for a better life."

@wood_eater_ Zoe Baker's Means and Ends comes to mind! I've enjoyed it so much. I was just looking up the section on prefiguration in the ebook today. my cousin sent a picture of a poster with "be the change you want to see in the world" on it, and I really like the 'prefigurativeness' of it

Anarchists write the best books on the history of anarchism not only because they obviously have a better theoretical understanding of it but also because they actually ground it into a collective practice instead of reducing it to abstract ideas produced by a few "great men"

@SoxOn35th I stopped watching and I stopped caring. Despite being a lifelong fan, it was easy to disconnect and stop caring because there's no care for the fans or the players. I don't even care if ownership or management changes; the problem is the existence of owners, managers, & umps

@JoshuaPHilll contract unionism is disempowering to the rank and file. It puts control in the hands of leaders and lawyers disconnected from the working conditions. It legitimizes the boss' ownership, when we need to delegitimize their ownership & authority and organize towards self-activity

@JoshuaPHilll That's my frustration with NLRB recognition. We don't need it, it takes so long, it's a surrender of control, it reproduces the structural problems of existing unions. The only recognition that matters is our own, and that's the key to organizing at scale; forget about the NLRB.

Read Raising Expectations (and Raising Hell)
Days like today really show that we need to keep the focus on workers owners and controlling our workplaces. Workers don’t deserve $15/hr, or $25, or $35. We deserve it all. We should get all the wealth we create.

@t_NYC authorities do not and will never care about us. disobedience is a matter of survival - plan ahead with coworkers to decide for yourselves when to close up in response to weather. Solidarity and direct action are a matter of survival.

@tha_rami it's the power imbalance of the corporation. the rank and file tech workers do all of the work, and absentee execs make millions off of it. the power imbalance gives them control over hiring/firing, and they intentionally foster turnover to maximize their control and profit.

Scratch a Liberal, and a Fascist bleeds. Libs out here calling for an enhanced police state, after a community expresses rage over a judge letting a cop walk free after he outright murdered an innocent person. Ed has never once mentioned Eddie Irizarry. #JusticeForEddieIrizarry

@turnerdyal I think they need better systems in place for identifying these people, and also to more easily apprehend them. It can be overwhelming for police and detectives when there are such large numbers of people breaking the law at once.

@ArtsyMarx1st The ruling class would have us believe revolution is seizing state power through voting or violence. I see revolution as a redefining of our social relations. We dont need state power to do that. Relationship building is revolutionary. Trust and care are the foundation of revolt.

@JessicaLexicus the best prep is collective prep. building solidarity in your local area, organizing mutual aid so that you're all already prepared to meet each other's needs. understanding the local ecology to prepare for likely climate disaster. economy of scale means we prep better together!

We met California Democrat @RoKhanna on the @UAW picket line. Khanna was among many Democrats who voted to break a railroad strike last December. Now he wants photo ops with striking auto workers. Workers need leaders who fight for us, not ones who pay lip service & stab us in the back. Watch our report from on-the-ground at the strike: youtube.com/watch?v=Z3Dz6i…
